Recent Updates From Amberly Oviatt
Last updated | Thursday October 10, 2024
The decision to begin therapy can be challenging, you have just taken a courageous first step. I view therapy as a collaborative process, where clients are encouraged to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a supportive, nonjudgmental, and compassionate setting. Our work together will help you understand yourself in relation to the world around you and to your life experiences. I believe in mind/body connection and incorporate mindfulness into my practice. Research shows that empowering clients with stress management techniques and mindfulness practice helps decrease levels of stress and anxiety and improves quality of life.

My therapeutic style is empathetic, supportive, and direct. I incorporate humor and laughter whenever possible. I work most often treating symptoms related to depression, anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, substance use and life transitions and combine cognitive-behavioral, relational, mindfulness, Gottman (level 2) and psychodynamic approaches.
I hope we can identify difficulties, think about where they have originated from, and learn coping skills to hopefully eradicate the difficulties you presented to therapy with. During treatment, I hope to facilitate growth and result in an overall healthier version of you.
