Recent Updates From Carrie Sturrock
Last updated | Thursday October 10, 2024

As a therapist, I help people connect to their inner strength to meet life’s challenges with creativity and compassion for the self and others using a mindfulness-based approach. My practice is rooted in understanding how our emotions show up in our relationships and inner world as well as somatically in our bodies. And how experience is shaped by the family, community and larger systems we’re a part of. Whether you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious — or simply stuck — I offer a warm, nonjudgmental space to explore difficult emotions and challenging life issues.
I'm formally trained in Internal Family Systems, a psychodynamic, trauma-informed approach that considers a person has many parts, which can be in harmony or polarized — just as family members can be. With partners, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy to explore adult attachments and the emotional subtext of reactive patterns to find new ways of engaging.
Understanding ourselves and why we do what we do, can be scary — and also liberating. I provide space for people to reflect, search for meaning and learn ways to connect with the various parts of themselves in order to more deeply connect with others, which is the foundation of emotional wellness.
