    Profile

I am a compassionate and dedicated Nationally Certified Licensed Professional Counselor and Approved Clinical Supervisor in NJ, and the proud Owner of Empower and Thrive Counseling. I attended Stockton University, where I conducted research in psychology and was published in scholarly journals. I graduated Cum Laude and with Distinction with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Psychology, then earned a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Monmouth University.

My background and training is mainly in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, while I also incorporate Mindfulness-Based, Exposure, Psychodynamic, Person-Centered, Solution-Focused, Behavioral, Relational, and Trauma-focused therapies into my practice. I combine a variety of these methods and techniques to appropriately fit the individual needs of my clients.

I started practicing mental health counseling in 2013, first in a non-profit community agency, providing out-patient and partial care (intensive outpatient) therapy, then in private practice working with individuals, couples, and groups. I have designed and ran several groups focusing on stress/anxiety management, grief, and childhood transitions as well as lead professional development trainings to colleagues. I have many years of experience working with children, adolescents, and parents and I currently see adults ages 18 and up and couples.

I specialize in, but am not limited to treating Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Relationship issues/Couples, LGBTQ exploration and affirmation, Gender Dysphoria, Grief/Transitions, Stress Management, Self-Esteem, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Parenting/Behavior Modification, and Eating Disorders.

I began offering Telehealth counseling during the COVID-19 pandemic, as myself and many others were practicing social distancing. With COVID-19 came the increased demand for video chat, which has expanded mental healthcare to the virtual world. In a private space, our sessions can be in the place that YOU are most comfortable (the beach, your porch, a cozy room in your home). Telehealth has allowed me to continue to help my clients get the quality care they deserve, stay on track of and accomplish their therapeutic goals, and THRIVE despite the many challenges that have arisen.

Being a Therapist is my passion and true calling. My intention as a provider is to aid and guide my clients in finding their authentic, powerful selves. We all have a story, and we all have a voice that matters. I strive to help my clients feel understood, valued, and strong in their minds, bodies, and overall lives. I am wholly committed to my clients and the work that we do together. I am here as your confidant and supporter, encouraging you to invest in yourself and your future!

Personally, I am an animal and beach lover! I have two sweet dogs, Missy and Esmerelda that often accompany me in sessions. If I could rescue every animaI in need, I would! I enjoy travelling, going to concerts, trying new restaurants and food, staying fit and active, and love a good yoga class to stay grounded. I'm driven and enthusiastic about life and my career, and also thoroughly appreciate being a couch potato with the ones I love. For me, it's all about creating balance as best I can, and staying mindful of practicing self-care. If you'd like to learn more or set up a free consultation, please contact me!
