Profile

I feel that much of the work of psychotherapy takes place in the context of the relationship. To that end, I endeavor to create a safe and supportive environment within which a productive working relationship can develop. In this relationship, clients can expect a balance of empathy, respect, and gentle encouragement to do the very difficult work of healing, personal change, and growth. This approach to therapy has enabled me to work successfully with a diverse group of individuals with an array of clinical presentations.
As a therapist, I have worked with individuals struggling with issues of identity and life transitions, challenges in relationships, substance abuse, mood disorders, and severe mental illness. While my conceptualization and approach to healing may vary with the needs of the client, my respectful, attentive demeanor remains the same.
I bring to the therapeutic relationship, knowledge and experience cultivated through work in a variety of settings (schools, clinics, inpatient psychiatric facilities, outpatient private practice) in a variety of roles (clinician, diagnostician, supervisor, professor) bolstered by an appreciation for the beauty of individual differences.
