Recent Updates From Hunter Vaughn
Last updated | Thursday October 10, 2024

I provide services to individuals, couples, and families, specializing in culturally competent therapy for Portland's LGBTQ community. I work with clients of various sexual, gender, and cultural backgrounds to address issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, identity concerns, and life transitions. I collaborate with clients & their other providers to determine the focus and nature of therapy. I believe all people are oriented towards health and growth, but sometimes develop problematic ways of thinking, acting, being, and interacting. In therapy we explore areas of your life to find ways of being that help you feel more contented, balanced, and effective.
Throughout my graduate education and clinical experiences, I have focused on working with clients from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds. I am adept at providing services for people from all walks of life, while specializing in culturally responsive mental health care with sexual and gender minority individuals.
I integrate multiple psychological approaches, tailoring therapy to you. I employ cognitive behavioral and Gestalt therapies, mindfulness, and psychodynamic, attachment, queer, and feminist theory. I use evidence-based practices flexibly and collaboratively, focusing on your personal, community, and cultural strengths. As a doctoral-level practitioner, I use assessments to aid diagnosis & treatment, and evaluate progress.
