That’s why therapy involves not only developing healthy emotional management techniques to address the behavioral concern, but also the exploration of how the past has in effect created the present situation. Session work then entails exploring your personality, interpersonal style, parental relationships, childhood events, traumatic experiences, emotional distress, romantic relationships, coping mechanisms, and elements of identity formation.
