Hi, My name is Rachel Joffe. I have been working in the field of Social Work for many years. My first 20+ years were spent working in various capacities in hospitals. Some of the positions/populations included: AIDS, Homecare, ER, Transplant, Substance Abuse, Psych and Pediatrics. I was included in early research projects to show the efficacy of Motivational Interviewing. I was recruited to develop the first childhood obesity program at Montefiore and developed 4 subsequent programs including "The Bodega Buddy Project " which was one of my favorites.

I am a highly energetic person who at times can be non-conventional. In many of my programs I was able to use boxing, walking and sports with young patients as a connective methods to enhance the theraputic alliance.

In my current private practice I am more traditional but when it is indicated- I do "Move a muscle change a thought therapy" in which I take clients out for walk and talk sessions. This was great during the pandemic.

My Typical patient has struggles with anxiety, OCD, Perfectionism and ADHD. Many have history of trauma. Although I am not a trauma specialist often these complex issues are addressed in treatment.

I am hoping to build my Bariatric Bridges program as it is newly launched. Please feel free to reach out should you have questions.

Since my patient's are often surgery patients, I do comprehensive evaluation/clearances for surgery and have designed an online program collaboratively with an RD in which patients are able to learn how to put their surgical guidelines into daily practice. This is a behavioral health program- we do not prescribe diets or treat severe mental health issues.
