Recent Updates From Rebecca OQuinn
Last updated | Tuesday October 22, 2024
Originally for Raleigh-Durham, NC, I have resided in the mountains of North Carolina for the past 11 years. My entry into the field of counseling was inspired by two things: an insatiable love for and curiosity about the human condition, and a personal, lived experience in my own counseling which tells me that the process of modern psychoanalysis is profoundly life-changing, life-affirming, and life-preserving. It was through a shared curiosity and compassion for life with my own analyst that I came to know that caring, safe, and passionate human relationships are the key to healing the wounds not only in ourselves, but also in society. It is difficult to imagine a world in which I did not endeavor to pay this forward.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in the state of North Carolina, a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I completed a Bachelor of the Arts at Elon University, and have a background in the performing arts and arts education. I work with youths in foster care, and completed my internship counseling survivors of domestic and intimate partner violence. I am committed to a life-long process of learning and growth, and do so currently in personal analysis, modern psychoanalytic group training and supervision here in Asheville, and with the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis and the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas.
