Getting to know Natalie Matos
I understand how difficult and important making the decision to come to therapy can be. I believe in the power of building a strong, therapeutic relationship with my clients. I know the importance of empathy and the benefit of having your voice heard throughout treatment. My goal is to always create a welcoming and safe space that allows my clients to explore what they need to help them lead a more meaningful life. I believe that therapy is an amazing process in which we work together to build upon innate strengths and discover areas for improvement.
My approach to therapy is collaborative and strengths-based. I employ an array of techniques including cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and resilience-based therapies in my practice. Every person is unique and brings their own life experiences to the process. Together with my clients, we identify which strategies and methods will be the most comforting and beneficial to each individual. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, life transitions, self-esteem building, stress, and work-related issues. I specialize in working with diverse individuals. In particular, I work with the LGBTQIA+ community to provide safe space to learn and grow within themselves. As a queer identified therapist, I understand the importance of providing an affirming and inclusive environment to all my clients.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham in Criminal Justice and my Master of Social Work degree at Loyola University Chicago.
