Recent Updates From Allie Kirvin
Last updated | Thursday October 10, 2024
Taking the step to reach out for help can be tough. I aim to provide a safe, inviting, and supportive space for my clients to heal and grow towards their goals. Therapy is meant to be a collaborative process between therapist and client. I work with individuals, couples and families with ages ranging from older adults to children. I have special interest in working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, sexual identity issues, family issues, and trauma. I enjoy working with children and adolescents that have ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and need for emotion education and emotion regulation skills.
An essential beginning step in the therapy process is to build a positive relationship between client and therapist. Person-Centered Therapy is a foundation that is rooted in the importance of this relationship. I may use interventions such as mindfulness, play therapy, self-compassion, and emotion-regulation skills to help clients reach their goals.
My therapeutic approach is integrative, meaning I may use pieces of different theories to offer a unique and individualized therapy experience. I believe for therapy to be the most beneficial, we will co-create goals based on the presenting concerns. I am optimistic that with a positive therapeutic relationship change can happen.
