Recent Updates From Apryl Sydnor
Last updated | Thursday October 10, 2024
I have over 10 years combined experience working in community mental health and therapeutic day settings. My professional journey includes individual, crisis and group counseling. Clients have represented different cultural groups with mental health concerns. Through my clinical experience, I have developed a particular interest in working with people experiencing concerns related to cultural identity, trauma and sexual violence, anxiety, and mood disturbances. I take a Multicultural, Gestalt, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Trauma Informed Care approach to increase awareness and enhance adaptive interpersonal skills.
My approach relies on the unique experiences of individuals within their social and cultural contexts to increase awareness through reflection with in the moment explorations. I aim to provide emotional safety during therapy as I engage clients in problem solving as an opportunity to transcend interpersonal challenges and accomplishments.
My role is to support clients in decision making to help achieve equilibrium that aligns with their values and stems from personal strengths. In time, clients take larger social risks by revealing their internal conflicts. It is my commitment to empower clients to expand their awareness and personal strengths as they embrace healing and meaningful changes.
