Profile

I specialize in working with people who have complicated relationships with their bodies. My patients come to me because they are interested in: addressing eating issues before they turn into a full-blown eating disorder; learning to live better with medical problems; reconsidering their use of alcohol and drugs; or learning to live in their bodies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or non-binary individuals. Many of my patients have also been through difficult or even traumatic events, that at times have made their bodies feel unsafe. I help my patients to reestablish a sense of trust and safety in their bodies.
I draw from psychodynamic approaches, which emphasize how past experiences and relationships shape our present reality. However, in my experience, insight is rarely sufficient to produce change — we also must change our actions. To this end, I am trained in cognitive and behavioral therapies. I also love reading the latest psychological research.
Between August 2023 and July 2024 my practice will be virtual only, open to residents of California and Washington, D.C.
