Recent Updates From Carey Kalkwarf
Last updated | Thursday October 10, 2024
NOT accepting new clients until April 2024. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. My experience includes working with adults who struggle with severe and persistent mental illness, substance use, PTSD and trauma (as well as military-related PTSD), depression, anxiety, personality disorders, mood disorders, grief/loss/bereavement, relationship issues, and chronic suicidal ideation/crisis intervention. I specialize in perinatal mental health and I received training in Perinatal Mood&Anxiety Disorders, and am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I believe in meeting each client where they are at by encompassing a holistic, trauma-informed approach to the biopsychosocial model, while emphasizing the impact that trauma, childhood and past experiences have on our current situations and our disconnect from mind and body. Healing from trauma is a necessary first step.
My hope is that Better Place Counseling can be your safe and non-judgmental space to feel heard, validated, and supported through whatever struggle it is you may be experiencing. I believe mental health is a lifelong journey full of ups and downs, and learning how to cope and manage symptoms is the key to stability.
