Recent Updates From David B.
Last updated | Thursday October 10, 2024
My approach to counseling is, first and foremost, founded on the quality of the therapy relationship itself. I have worked in the the mental health profession for 35 years and for 25 years in private practice as a licensed psychologist in St. George, Utah. I provide individual and relationship counseling in an emotionally safe, supportive environment, drawing on a variety of approaches tailored to meet your needs and support your healing and growth. My integrative approach includes the exploration of mental, emotional, physical, developmental, spiritual, and interpersonal factors, as well as practical skill development.
Mindfulness is central to my counseling approach, having taught Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) for 30+ years (next session begins January 25; see davidbtate.com for details). My doctoral dissertation contributed to the now extensive research supporting the significant emotional and physical health benefits commonly realized by MBSR participants.
I have provided consultations and mindfulness trainings for businesses including Nike, Ernst and Young, New Line Cinema, Abbott Laboratories, AT&T, the National Make-A-Wish Foundation, Zion National Park, and the NCAA. I was the Program Director and Lead Mindfulness Instructor at Miraval, Life in Balance, the first mindfulness health and wellness resort.
