Recent Updates From Melissa L
Last updated | Wednesday March 26, 2025

Currently full but please contact me to join my waiting list. As a counselor, I take an Interpersonal Process approach to therapy, wherein the client/counselor relationship can serve as a springboard for personal transformation in daily life. Together we will consider your unique journey including relationships, identity, and culture to build a layered picture of who you are as an individual, and within the world around you. When relevant, we will consider significant traumatic experiences you may have gone through, as well as childhood and adult attachment patterns and how those play out in your relationships today.
My experience ranges from four years as director of a counseling center for survivors of sexual violence, to working in a university counseling center. As a trained Swahili interpreter and advocate for immigrants and refugees, I also counsel those who have survived the traumas of war and who have been targets for racial, gender-based or political violence.
Whether you are seeking counseling for the first time, or are looking to pick up where you last left off, I welcome your calls and inquiries. Please note that I am not accepting new clients at this time but am happy to add your name to my waiting list.
