I have extensive experience helping people who are challenged with medical, physical, emotional and sexual trauma. Clients have reported that my direct, clear, empathetic approach helped them . One client said " I found every session meaningful and valuable. Gail is a real person, her personality and sense of humor create an environment of comfort and ease. She provided a deep compassion and a non judgmental perspective, yet challenged me, creating a rich therapeutic relationship. Gail embodies the true meaning of an excellent therapist; she is compassionate, kind, and has a wealth of knowledge, skills and tools to aide in the process of self-awareness and growth".
I work with clients' trauma issues through EMDR and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique, 'tapping') and the grief/loss issues associated with trauma. I additionally work on skill building through cognitive behavioral therapy, management of anger/stress and enhancement of communication skills. I believe that therapy is a collaborative experience, working together to address clients' goals.
I have worked in a hospital setting, in addition to my private practice, for over 10 years. Through my hospital position I have experience working with crisis intervention, stroke survivors, amputees and various other medical traumas. I also have training in palliative care and end of life issues.
