Recent Updates From Heidi Laug
Last updated | Thursday October 10, 2024
In 2008 I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Masters in Counseling. Since 2010, I have been a counselor in the Bozeman school district, and in 2014, I took a position working part-time at the nCenter in Belgrade. I am trained as a Safe-ti (School and Family Engagement - Trauma Informed) specialist, and I work with children and adolescents who have been traumatized. I love my work because I know the value to children, adolescents and parents in facing these difficulties before adulthood. I use this same skill set to work with adults who have experienced past or present trauma.
My theoretical orientation is person-centered therapy focusing on a strong interpersonal relationship that promotes a sense of safety and acceptance. I work to understand the needs of individuals and support them to recognize their strengths and ways to empower themselves, and I am particularly trained to work with clients who have experienced trauma.
I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy into my sessions and teach clients how trauma affects their perceptions of the world around them. I also collaborate with the nCenter to offer qEEG brain maps, neurofeedback and/or nutritional counseling through our clinic. These combinations can have a powerful healing effect for clients who have a trauma history.
