Recent Updates From Jim Sparks
Last updated | Tuesday October 22, 2024

Currently full and not taking new clients. In more than 25 years as a psychologist, I've cultivated a profound respect for the ways people reshape their lives despite daunting problems. I see my role as helping you understand how a particular problem is working, noticing moments you are living more according to your own designs, and solidifying these changes. Couples are a particular interest of mine. I meet with couples trying to decide if they are a good fit for a committed relationship; couples who want to undo habits of conflict that diminish connection; and long-term couples who find they've drifted into parallel lives.
I also work with individuals around significant life transitions such as divorce, job change, illness, or experiences of "midlife crisis." I value the privacy of the therapeutic interaction, and for that reason I am increasingly shifting away from work with insurance companies, toward work as a private pay therapist or out of network provider.
We therapists often highlight our own theoretical approaches, yet a good deal of literature suggests that the connection between therapist and client may be more predictive of good outcomes than any particular technique. I look forward to speaking with you about whether I would be a good match for your concerns.
