Finding a therapist can be an overwhelming process. Providing a safe and trusting environment is fundamental to my counseling approach. I specialize in work with trauma, substance abuse, addiction, chronic relapse, those that suffer from emotional issues in conjunction with addiction, and children. In my experience, when emotional issues are treated concurrently with addiction, you will have the greatest success in reducing issues related to both simultaneously. As such, I am dually licensed to treat issues related to both mental health and addiction.
For the basis of my clinical practice, I work from a psychodynamic perspective and believe insight-oriented therapy can assist in increasing self-awareness to resolve inner-conflict. Although this is my primary basis for treatment, I also utilize other therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs and treatment goals.
I am a Certified EMDR therapist. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is highly effective in treating trauma. For work specific to children and adolescents, I am experienced in play-therapy and sand-tray therapy which can be highly effective tools during the therapeutic process.
