But it’s also rewarding, fulfilling, and life-giving, for both of us. Something powerful happens when two people choose to sit down and be honest with each other. When they decide to take themselves and each other seriously, create a space for what they’ve always thought but never said, and find the openness to see themselves anew.
I’ve been studying and working in mental health for over 20 years and draw from a variety of approaches (CBT, DBT, ACT, IFS - the full alphabet soup!). But most at some point filter through mindfulness. Mindfulness skills allow you to be present for yourself and others, shift self-defeating thoughts, manage difficult emotions, and cultivate resilience.
