Often times, navigating relationships can be similar to walking through a minefield. The only problem is that most of us tend to step on a few mines. The deep hurt and emotional trauma that each exploding mine causes in our lives is carried into all subsequent relationships we dare to enter. In dealing with the pain of past relationships, many struggle to cope and find solutions to push back against their very real pain; many of these solution cause deep wounds of their own.
As a Licensed Counselor, working from a psychodynamic perspective, my goal is to foster a safe, confidential, therapeutic relationship in order to fully process the pain. My practice focuses on working with adults and couples with the following concerns: relationship issues, communication, Bi-polar, depression, PTSD, anxiety, bereavement, and trauma.
Graduating from Corban University’s School of Clinical Mental Health Counseling, a CACREP accredited graduate program, he completed both his practicum and internships at the Salem Free Counseling Clinic in Salem, Oregon. After graduation, Shawn accepted a position at a local agency before starting Meristem Counseling Center.
