Recent Updates From Thomas A
Last updated | Tuesday October 22, 2024

Aloha, I understand your fears, appreciate your courage, and have compassion for your emotional suffering. It is intimidating to trust a guide as you face your fears and commit to meaningful and lasting change. Much of our unhealthy behavior is compulsive; driven by unconscious fears, worrying, resentment, and defensiveness. We compulsively eat, drink, shop, or control others in an attempt to soothe or avoid unresolved feelings. Years of conditioning through criticism and negativity fostered the anxiety and depression. You may feel alone and misunderstood. I have decades of life experience, education, and rigorous training to instill that trust you can depend on.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness Psychotherapy are the antidotes to emotional pain and compulsive behavior. Positive Psychology re-conditions our minds through the cultivation of gratitude and happiness. Using CBT, I integrate mindfulness and positive psychology with your personal spiritual/religious belief system to promote wise decision-making to lead you to your highest aspirations.
My therapy is informed by years of experience in neurobiology, psychology, and psychotherapy. I base my couples work on that of the Gottman's (UW, Seattle). I have advanced training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for parents and children age 2-8. And I infuse mindfulness (nonjudgmental awareness training) into much of my work.
