Recent Updates From Rita J
Last updated | Wednesday March 26, 2025

I acquired my Ph.D. at the University of Kansas, focusing on general Clinical Psychology with a sub specialty in child & family psychology. A Kansan, I've served children and families in an agency [the Wichita Guidance Center , 1979-1985] and my own private practice since 1985. Although I have a great deal of training in working with children, especially under six, I like workiing with all ages. I particularly like working with those recovering from trauma. My home office is a relaxed, private, and comfortable environment where you can feel supported as you work on new skills and life patterns.
I have a great deal of training and experience in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I've had the opportunity to serve survivors of: rape, incest, car wreck, natural disaster, crime, etc. I also like working with people of any age who have problems with Depression or Anxiety.
Although I often have to help my clients through the grieving process, I do a lot of skill building in communication and developing skills in emotional identification, expression, and coping. I'm a very informal, open person-you will never have to wonder what I might be thinking about our work.
