Recent Updates From Robert Cohen
Last updated | Monday February 17, 2025

A young mother walked into my office crying and expressing her belief that asking for help indicated weakness. I thought to myself, it takes a strong person to ask for help. She had forgotten how strong and important she was. I believe the single most important ingredient in a successful therapy is establishing, nurturing, and maintaining a safe, trusting, and genuine relationship. While making use of psychodynamic and family systems approaches to treatment, I am also flexible in assisting patients in understanding patterns of behavior that may contribute to their conflicts and worries.
I have worked for 20+ years as a psychologist with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families who present with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, behavioral issues, trauma, martial and family conflict, and other relationship difficulties. I am described as warm, honest, caring, humorous, and "up front."
I have worked in multiple settings including private practice, inpatient psychiatric hospitals and residential treatment. I have consulted to a high-risk adolescent program and supervised other clinicians. I am a member of the American Psychological Association, Maryland Psychological Association, and The National Register of Health Care Providers in Psychology.
