Recent Updates From Stanley Kisiel
Last updated | Tuesday October 22, 2024
I have successfully worked with adults and children, couples and families, with both common and complex needs. My approach focuses on experiential awareness and processing, while working through present day thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is holistic in that it views symptoms as attempts at coping. We work together establishing a calm place within you, through the enhancement of personal awareness, resources, and developing coping strategies; we then progress beyond coping skills, moving through the roots of old learning so that your change is lasting, and from the inside out.
My experience includes working in both a psychiatric hospital for 27 years and local community mental health agencies. My training has moved me in the direction of mind-body psychotherapy approaches. I am family-systems oriented in thinking, and I tend to focus on helping clients with emotion regulation issues in practice.
In addition to Marriage and Family therapy, I am trained in EMDR , IFS , and DBT; these approaches work well with various issues including anxiety, trauma/stress, impulsive behaviors, & mood disorders. Also EMDR has been successful with enhancing workplace performance, aiding in the reduction of performance anxiety, competition preparation, and psychological recovery from injury for athletes.
