For over 20 years, I have had the privilege of providing both direct and indirect mental healthcare to youths, adults, and families in my local community and surrounding areas. Although life experiences and observations of such has been my primary educator, I attribute my education and training, as well as positions at various for and non-profit agencies to assisting me with honing my therapeutic skills in helping clients identify and rediscover their distinctive strengths to develop new ways of thinking, behaving, and relating to others to achieve a better quality of living and relationships. In a safe, therapeutic environment youths (ages 8 to 17 ), adults, couples, and families are provided professional counseling to help (re)discover and utilize their personal strengths in improving relationships, overcoming adverse circumstances, and other symptoms related to non and existing mental/emotional health diagnoses. Taking the steps towards improvement requires courage to leave the familiar. I encourage you to invest in yourself and begin the healing and learning process of becoming aware of your strengths in overcoming challenges that is impacting your quality of living.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the Mobile community. My practice includes providing psychotherapy for adults, age 19 and older, as well as comprehensive psychological testing, and consultation services for ages 6 and older. My research experience with resilience, mindfulness, stress, health psychology, spirituality, and anxiety paired with my experience working in community mental health, contribute to my ability to work with a range of people and psychological difficulties. These difficulties include anxiety-related, depressive, mood and personality disorders, as well as interpersonal and behavioral difficulties. My approach integrates evidence-based treatments such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness strategies, which have been shown to be useful for a number of concerns. I also use a therapist-client collaborative approach to form and reach therapeutic goals. I believe mental wellness is influenced by biological, social, and psychological factors, and that treatment often requires a holistic approach to these concerns and how they interact. From this perspective, I aim to aid in reducing symptoms but also facilitate adaptability, resilience, well-health, and prevention of mental health disorders.

Are you looking to end generational trauma cycles, break negative thought patterns, and cope with the stress and anxiety of motherhood? My clients are moms and women who are hoping to become moms. Women who have worked with me report that they are able to think more clearly, "zoom out" on their lives to see things from a new perspective and make decisions that are aligned with their values. They are able to respond in healthy ways to everyday life stressors. They feel they are becoming their own definition of their “best selves”. I help women break the cycles that they have felt stuck in. I specialize in talk therapy and EMDR Therapy to heal trauma, reduce symptoms, and shift perspectives. I provide person-centered psychotherapy. We will start where you are each session to address current stressors, past traumas, and future goals. We will utilize a variety of tools including mindfulness, CBT, MI, and narrative therapy to address your goals. Parenthood (current or future) can bring to light so many of our anxieties, traumas, and insecurities. What if I'm not good enough? What if I mess this up? What if my child inherits my trauma? By seeking therapy you are choosing to "do the work" so that your children do not have to. That is a powerful and brave step. I hope to support that journey.

I am not accepting new clients at this time. We all face difficult experiences that can seem unmanageable. You may be struggling with anxiety or depression or with old or new trauma. Perhaps your closest relationships have become a source of stress instead of a source of comfort. Maybe you are experiencing grief and loss. Going through these experiences results in a decline in your general well-being and happiness. My approach offers an in-depth understanding of your struggles to make long lasting changes in your life and relationships. I have over 20 years of professional counseling experience. I am trained in EMDR, which is used to treat trauma. For couples struggling with conflict, disconnection, or infidelity, I use Emotionally Focused and Gottman Method interventions. Psychodynamic and attachment theories inform the bulk of my therapeutic work. We all go through difficult times in our lives and it can be helpful to talk with a trained professional when you feel stuck. I'd love to hear more about your needs and see if I am a good fit for you. To schedule an appointment with me, please email or call.
