My name is Dr. Linnea Hagens, a clinical psychological associate for Dr. Tammy Dobbs. I provide personalized therapy aimed to relieve emotional distress and develop goals of improving some aspects of your life. Therapy sessions include examining and gaining insight into life choices and difficulties faced. For patients with depression, anxiety, and related disorders, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT helps you become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. If requested, I can offer psychological testing for ADHD, Autism and Mood Disorders. I am a trained EMDR therapist for patients with trauma (accidents, abuse, grief and loss) and specialize in Art Therapy where CBT is often used through art therapy directives as the art acts as an alternative language, and helps people of all ages explore emotions.

There are things about relationships that all of us find challenging. Communication with your spouse, partner, or children for some. Trauma experienced by yourself or someone close to you. We could insert 100 other examples here, but no one should have to try to figure it out on their own. There is someone out there that can support you on your journey, and I hope that person is me. My theoretical framework begins with a client centered strengths based approach. I am trained in Behavior Analysis, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma Focused CBT. I utilize family systems and attachment approaches to help my clients recognize the foundation of their difficulty in order to resume healthy relationship. I envision therapy as a hike we are embarking on together. There will be difficult climbs and easy wide paths. There will be times I am led by you and there will be times I will lead our journey. I look forward to meeting you wherever you are on your path.

Do you turn to food, alcohol, or drugs to deal with feeling lonely or rejected, or to cope with added stress and anxiety? Have you lost the joyful feelings that you used to have in life? Do you feel fear stricken, even in the “comfort” of your own home? Do you feel like there are so many things to manage and your forever growing “to do list” leaves you feeling completely overwhelmed? I work with women who have experienced tough stuff in their childhood and feel like they have lost their way. Sometimes we turn to food, alcohol, and drugs or, we withdraw from friends and family, just to cope. Does this sound like you? These coping skills affecting our lives as adults often stem from hurts that happened during childhood and were never healed. My goal is to help you stop engaging in patterns that started from what you learned as a way of survival. You will get encouragement and a toolbox of practical actions you need to find your way to living your best life. I believe that you are worthy of love and care. I believe that therapy should address the whole person – their mind, body, and spirit. I believe that loving and accepting ourselves for who we are, scars and all, is one of the most courageous things we can do. Start making yourself a priority and begin enjoying your life. Let's do this!
