Morning telehealth sessions available for California clients. I have been a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2004. I have extensive experience working with relationship issues, trauma and PTSD, depression, challenging life transitions (international move, career change, bereavement, loss of relationship, etc.) and the challenges of creative careers. Many of my clients work in the fields of film, theater, opera, music, literature and visual arts. I see California clients online and offer individual therapy and couples counseling in person to English-speaking clients in my new home of Frankfurt, Germany. I seek to provide clients a safe, non-judgmental place to express and explore their challenges, and help them to rediscover their talents, strengths and resources. My goal is to create collaborative partnerships that enable clients to move away from self-blame and judgment and help them to find solutions that are consistent with their values and beliefs. I enjoy working with clients who are ready to make a commitment to personal growth and a deeper understanding of themselves and their patterns. I use EMDR to help clients reprocess trauma and my work is guided by my training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Mindful Awareness Practices. I also provide support to clients with ME/CFS and Long Covid.

I'm a licensed clinical psychologist who places greatest value in establishing an empathic, warm, & respectful environment (while modeling firm, healthy boundaries) for clients & their families. Over the last 7 years I've treated adults, children, teens, couples, families, & groups in a private practice setting. My strength-based, collaborative approach drawing on numerous techniques (CBT, DBT, Fam Systems, etc.) helps clients get the most from therapy & allows tailoring our work to your needs. When beneficial and appropriate, I work to foster a "team approach," encouraging good communication w/other members of a client's daily life (i.e. other practitioners/physicians, family, teachers, etc.). View 4 Photos Individual & group topics included: Parent Education; sexual orientation/gender identity, all ages (LGBTQ & ally community, PFLAG); life-span changes (career & academic transitions, "failure to launch," "empty nest," menopause, etc.); Mindfulness; multiculturalism; trauma/abuse/PTSD (i.e healthy relationships/DV); Anxiety/Depression/Mood Disorders; Addictions; suicidality & self-harm; Autism Spectrum (social skills); Tricotillomania; ADHD; Tourette's. For clients of any age our work often includes building insight, accountability, & action to achieve goals. Particularly w/ children/teens, involving & supporting family is key. For all clients therapy can be challenging & simultaneously is potentially incredibly rewarding. We'll work in a collaborative, supportive setting to reach your personal success.

My approach to psychotherapy is empathic, collaborative and unique to each individual's own needs. I believe the most important component of therapy is establishing a genuine relational connection. I strive to create a therapeutic environment in which clients feel comfortable, respectful, supportive and understood in order to actively explore deep personal issues and experiment with new ways of thinking. I provide a unique psychotherapy to treat a wide variety of conditions including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, ADHD, LGBT issues, attachment issues, OCD, kleptomania and grief. Moreover, I work with children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI), concussion in both individual and group settings. Because of my unique background and various experiences working with diverse immigrant populations, I have had the pleasure of easily connecting with clients from various cultural contexts. I am offering tele-therapy through video and/or phone to all who want to be seen during this time. I'm also a provider for Cigna Health insurance. I utilize EMDR to treat childhood sexual, physical and verbal abuse, parental rejection, and bullying. I am fluent in both English and Turkish.

Welcome! If you have been searching for relief from isolation, loss, relationship issues, or trauma I can help navigate that path with you. Therapists are not “one-size-fits-all” and my goal with my clients is to meet them where they are emotionally. I see this work as a privilege, hold it sacredly, and host a safe, accepting, intuitive, trustworthy environment. The act of revealing oneself fully to another and being accepted is often a foreign experience to people. It can be scary and vulnerable to participate in therapy, but that vulnerability is what leads to change. I strive to facilitate personal growth and find inner peace. I believe in the here-and-now and utilize it as a source to build a therapeutic alliance. I appreciate and honor the uniqueness that each client brings and work collaboratively to help them reach their goals. My approach is curious and collaborative and is delivered with care and empathy. I am genuinely interested in getting to know you.

My name is Dr. Jared Maloff. I have experience working with members of many different ethnic backgrounds, and a vast array of presenting problems. I work with adolescents and adults and help each client to become connected with their 'true self' while addressing core issues on deep levels. I also work with couples to achieve better communication skills, increase trust and foster intimacy while helping each member of the couple to express feelings and needs. I also conduct psychological testing in both clinical and cognitive realms of both children and adults. I work with clients within a psychodynamic framework, and focus on each client’s unresolved or unprocessed issues and conflicts that he or she may not be consciously aware of. Focusing on the unconscious aspects of each client helps he or she develop increased understanding of their thoughts and feelings. In addition to providing individual and couple's therapy I also conduct a wide variety of psychological assessments. I have experience conducting assessments that are used in forensic settings, as well as conduct ADHD screenings, I.Q. testing, and learning disability assessments.

My specialty as a psychotherapist is eating disorder recovery, obesity (including bariatric counseling, pre and post procedure) and body image issues. In addition to practicing as a licensed MFT, I have practiced as a nutritionist for over 20 years. Clients range in age from adolescent/teen to adults. Other areas of treatment in my practice include, but are not limited to, depression and/or anxiety, relationship issues, and self-esteem work. An additional area of specialty is working with adolescent/teens who have been victims of bullying. I am a current clinical/professional member of IAEDP, NEDA, CAMFT and AAMFT. My treatment approach is comprehensive. I address eating disorders and obesity from both a psychological and physiological perspective (neurotransmitter and hormonal inbalances). Psychotherapeutically, treatment evaluates current coping skills, history of eating disordered behavior, trauma, relationship issues, etc. Treatment involves cognitive behavioral intervention as well as long term psychodynamic work. In addition to my practice, I participate in public speaking events for both professionals and school programs. I am a published author in the field of nutrition and have been a professional expert for certain media outlets (both radio and television).

I work with adolescents and adults, most are struggling to develop dynamic coping mechanisms for the anxiety or depression implicit to the demands of their lives and/or careers. My patients are racially, ethnically, socio-economically and sexually diverse. Not all of my patients are cis-gendered. I work w/athletes -- high school, college, professional, and retired -- writers, artists, doctors, investors, actors, university professors, corporate executives, lawyers, scientists, high school teachers, stand-up comedians, photographers, programmers, film directors, entertainment agents, talent managers, real estate brokers. I have particular expertise and experience in accurately diagnosing and working with complex comorbid behavioral and psychiatric disorders: manifestations of anxiety, depression, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), bi-polar disorders and Borderline Personality Disorder. A professor said, “There are many different psychological languages and you never know which one your patient speaks so it’s a good idea to become fluent in as many languages as possible.” I try to follow that advice. I will listen, learn and ultimately speak your language. Then, when you no longer feel alone, I can be an ally that nurtures your growth.

My clients are seeking help adjusting to major life changes, looking to live with painful emotions and eventually adapting them into meaningful action - towards themselves and those they love. I largely work with women, men and teenagers who are going through divorce and family restructuring, i.e. becoming re-singled, re-partnered, or learning to accept life split between two homes. Individuals looking to redefine place and purpose in the world after change, especially unwanted, is hard work. Having a sounding board and therapeutic guide who listens, challenges and supports you is essential to reaching your goals. I specialize in working with individuals who are grieving loss. Self care is at the heart of my practice and can be newly learned at any age. I focus on clients as individuals and treat each unique set of needs by listening and questioning to help guide towards greater self understanding, love and ultimately deeper and richer relationships moving forward. Any major life transition, be it death of a loved one or divorce, is sure to catalyze personal transformation. But adjusting to change, especially unwanted, is never easy. Having a confidential space to work through oscillating emotions in a timeline best suited to you is key to moving forward meaningfully.
