I help men & women find freedom through emotional healing. As a therapist, I know that genuine connection is a powerful healer. I know what it's like to feel like no one understands what you are going through, to care for everyone else while your story gets lost in the background. Unfortunately, I had some really "not so good" experiences with therapists, which lit a fire in me to become for others what I wish I had. You deserve the same love and care that you give others. Most of the time the healing journey ends with a newfound relationship with yourself building the bridge to who you want to be. I come from a background of working with individuals who have experienced significant trauma, substance abuse struggles, depression, and many other curveballs life throws. I am not the typical "How does that make you feel?" therapist; I believe we have the answers within and I am the tour guide helping you find them. I also consider myself a big "brain nerd", fascinated by the healing process of the mind, body, spirit and emotions through continued neuroscience studies and bringing that into the therapy journey. When we understand the “why” and the “what” we can bridge the gaps to healing, and learning to trust the process is where the magic happens!

It is important that my patients feel respected and encouraged. My job is to really listen and help you feel understood. I also think my role is to give you lots of feedback and not just be a passive listener saying, "uh, uh, hmm, I see, hmm". I am a coach, cheerleader, teacher, confidante, and accountability partner. The biggest complaint I have heard over the years about any past therapists whom patients felt were not helpful was the complaint that the past therapist was way too passive. I work best with those that want a therapist high in empathy but is not passive. I have 30 years of experience, hold a Master's degree in counseling psychology which involved two years of academic and clinical training, hold a Ph.D. (doctorate) in clinical psychology which involved 7 years of academic, clinical, and research training. Becoming a psychologist I underwent extensive supervised practice and multiple licensing examinations. In addition to daytime appointments I can see patients Monday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. I have a strong Christian faith commitment but work with many people that don't. The people that see me often report that therapy with me is very relaxed and even enjoyable. Therapy is just a conversation based on trust.

Navigating life's challenges is never easy, but reaching out for help is a brave first step to living a more genuine and fulfilling life. I have expertise in working with individuals struggling with childhood trauma and trauma-related symptoms such as grief, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and relational conflict. I believe every client is unique and deserves to be listened to and understood in an empathetic way. I am passionate about creating a safe, kind, collaborative and judgment-free space where clients can attain new insights, experience new feelings, and find a renewed sense of physical and mental well-being. I draw from EMDR, psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and DBT. I believe that past experiences and traumas dating back to childhood strongly influence the way we feel about ourselves and others. I will prompt you to explore your past and listen to repeating negative patterns. I also utilize somatic (body-centered) approaches to treating PTSD. I also believe that maladaptive or irrational thoughts strongly influence how we feel and behave. By exploring and challenging these thoughts, the goal would be for you to overcome symptoms of depression and anxiety and begin to lead a life in which you feel more connected to yourself, others and the world.
