Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, grief-stricken, confused, or just want an unbiased (professional) opinion, I would love to help! Even looking for a therapist can be difficult and time-consuming; thank you for taking the time to read what I've written. And even if I'm not who you're looking for, I sincerely hope you're able to conquer the challenges in your life. I've had the pleasure of helping others toward their goals in a variety of settings, with anxiety, depression, and grief remaining at the forefront of my work up until now. Therapy sessions with me revolve around you and your preferences. I'll meet you where you're at, even if you're not yet sure where "at" is. We'll talk about where you are now and where you'd like to be and then work together to bridge the gap. While we collaborate, I'll do everything I can to provide a safe space in which you can be your true self. Something I have learned during this time is that it's okay not to be okay. No one should have to hide their experiences or feel lesser for them. I encourage you to reach out so we can talk about this.

Individuals often come to therapy because they are having difficulties in relationships, coping with work-related stress, or managing intense emotions related to past experiences. They may be dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, or substance use which they feel has become unmanageable. My aim as a therapist is to help you reconnect with your own strengths and empower you to overcome your challenges, to see things in a new way, or perhaps, to identify your goals and values. I view therapy as a very collaborative process in which we will work together to help you build the life you want to live.

If you're feeling out of alignment with your true self, my hope is to be a guiding light for your journey back home. We're constantly inundated with messages about who we should be and what we should prioritize, but what others expect of us doesn't always align with our desires. In fact, some people prefer that we neglect our inner experiences, emotions, and needs. Particularly for those of us who have been silenced or marginalized, we've faced powerful obstacles to connecting, loving, and honoring our true selves. My aspiration is to help you become a loving protector and nurturer for you and rekindle your relationship with you. I am licensed in CA and WA. I draw from mindfulness-based approaches like DBT, ACT, MBSR, MBCT, and Mindful Self-Compassion that allow me to incorporate my personal connection to Buddhism into my work. I also use CBT in conjunction with more empowering Solution Focused & Narrative Therapies to help you rewrite your story through your own perspective. As a first generation immigrant, I recognize the social stigmas of mental health and taboos around asking for help. As someone who benefits from therapy, I also understand the importance of finding the right therapist. I aspire to create a warm, non-judgmental space for my clients, and hope you give yourself the time and space to find a great match for you.

Change can be difficult -- Allow me to help you succeed on your journey! Throughout my years of experience, I've found great joy and satisfaction in helping children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I work with children treating for phobias, unhappiness, divorce, grief, separation issues, abuse, neglect, poor self-esteem, and problems adjusting to life transitions. I use a combination of play therapy, art therapy, and talk therapy, as appropriate per the child's developmental level. Treating "difficult" teens is also one of my specialties. I treat youth experiencing challenges with depression, anxiety, abuse, substance use, and self-harm. I treat adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting issues, stress, separation/divorce and other life crisis situations. My passion and unique specialty is animal-assisted therapy. A fully-trained and certified animal is directed by a mental health professional and this type of therapy may aid in increasing verbal interactions, increasing attention skills, developing leisure/recreation skills, increasing self-esteem, and reducing anxiety, depression, and loneliness.

Welcome, and congratulations! Finding the right therapist is a big step. If you'd like to understand how your mind causes you mischief--anxiety, stress, depression, anger, addictions, or relationship problems--I can help you to pursue these goals. I have many years of experience in mindfulness meditation and practice, and a thorough understanding of how our thoughts, stories, and assumptions result in increased stress or increased happiness. I also make good use of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy in helping adults and teens with sexual abuse or addiction issues. Clients tell me that I am "an easy person to talk to." Mindfulness can bring increased happiness because it helps you to befriend yourself, discover sources of painful emotions or moods, face life's challenges, and create satisfying relationships. Of course life brings you difficult people and painful situations, but you can learn to respond to them with more peace of mind. Please check out my articles and booklist on my webpage at www.networktherapy.com/Laura-Crabb. I welcome Kaiser employees, and I'm willing to make financial arrangements with Kaiser members and others who have to pay out-of-pocket. I'm happy to speak with you by phone and answer your questions. Please feel free to call now for a free phone consultation.

Often, our greatest struggles come when our relationships are not as we'd wished; relationships with family are tense, a partnership is struggling, or our relationship with ourselves is unhealthy. I aim to provide a supportive environment that allows for exploration and identification and recovery of inner strengths that can be utilized as you explore new ways of thinking and relating. Whether you come for support with individual issues, family struggles, or couples' issues, I work to help clients learn new ways of relating, both to themselves and with others that may be more meaningful, compassionate, trusting, and satisfying. I have experience in working with couples/families to build more positive and healthy relationships, individuals with depression/anxiety management issues, trauma and trauma recovery, domestic violence, and adolescent emotional/behavioral issues. I use systemic theory, attachment theory and CBT therapies. I have specific training in trauma-focused therapy. I believe in using a collaborative, team approach, that honors each individual's experience and is tailored to their desired outcomes. If you are seeking support in any of these areas, I would be honored to embark on the journey with you.

I have experience working in a community mental health setting, seeing clients from a broad range of backgrounds with various concerns such as relationship and family issues, complex trauma, attachment loss, social and other forms of anxiety, depression, and many more. I work from a Family Systems and Attachment approach, understanding that an individual is always in relation with others and impacted by those relationships. I see families as the nucleus of any society and thus strive to help families overcome conflicts that have them feeling stuck and disconnected. Through my work in interfaith settings and with families from diverse backgrounds, I have also developed a unique capability of understanding the needs of multi-cultural families and importance of intersectionality.
