I believe we are born with the resiliency to handle life’s challenges. Early on, we develop coping strategies that don't always serve us in the long run. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, a life transition, a traumatic experience, grief, or relationship difficulties, we all need a supportive and compassionate other to join us as we untangle what's no longer working and discover new ways to access our inner strength and authenticity. I’d love to be this person for you. I help my clients build an understanding of themselves as we explore their blocks and the strategies that are no longer working for them. In this process, we access their internal experience to gain a deeper sense of self, ultimately leading to a more calm, confident, and connected path forward. My clients appreciate my caring, collaborative, and transparent approach. I offer virtual sessions to those residing in California. As an integrative therapist, I draw from different psychotherapy orientations. This allows me to tailor therapy to your needs and allows for a truly collaborative process in deciding where we go and how. Since successful therapy depends on a strong relationship between client and therapist, my first priority is nurturing that bond by creating a safe and supportive environment. I believe therapy is most effective when it is flexible, demystified, and client-centered, so you can expect me to be transparent about my ideas and approaches. My style is at times infused with humor and is always warm and direct. You are already the expert on you. As your guide and advocate, I'll help you develop the insight, curiosity, and courage to create the life you want, whether you are looking to reduce anxiety, feel more joy, or release the past. People who see me for the first time are often feeling overwhelmed, confused, depressed or anxious. Some people are unable to sleep, have distressing thoughts, or cannot control troublesome habits and behaviors. Others have have struggled with chronic pain due to injuries or illnesses. Many have endured the stigma of having a major mental illness which created difficulties in daily functioning, mood swings, or poor judgement and distorted thinking. And others have functioned well with significant achievements in their careers, family, and relationships but still feel empty inside, and cannot experience pleasure, meaning, or fulfillment from their lives. I utilize diverse approaches to facilitate healing, and tailor them to your particular goals and needs. Specialty areas include hypnosis for pain management, anxiety, depression, and habit control. I have many years of experience using psychodynamic approaches to uncover patterns that have inhibited growth, and contemporary eastern approaches using mindfulness. I believe therapy begins with creating a safe and trusting relationship. It takes courage to make a telephone call to a complete stranger asking for help. I also know from my work with hypnosis people have hidden strengths and personal resources that can be further developed in our work together.
