Helping people face the challenges in their lives that lead to an improved sense of wellbeing and purpose is my focus and passion. By creating a safe, trusting and collaborative environment, my clients feel empowered to learn, grow and change. I work with children, teens, adults and families seeking help with complex challenges in their home, work and school. I have extensive experience in supporting those with social skills deficits, trauma exposure, and family instability, especially those with persistent anxiety and depression, ADHD, ODD and SUD. I utilize research-based methods through a family systems approach. My therapeutic approach is holistic and integrative in nature, including the use of cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) techniques. My special focus is treating adults and children diagnosed with ADHD through a multi-model approach involving education, DBT skills training, behavior modification and CBT. My experience as a clinician for an intensive in-home psychiatric program for children and teens allowed me to grow as a counselor, granting me the opportunity to work intimately with clients through a family systems approach. I look forward to working with you on finding solutions that move your life in a positive direction.

As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Therapist in EMDR, I specialize in working with individuals, couples and their families who experience psychological and emotional trauma and PTSD. I work with diverse populations experiencing trauma and a wide range of trauma-informed mental health diagnoses (e.g., anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, chronic pain and eating disorders) as well as those affected by community disasters. I utilize modalities such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems, structural and strategic therapy and the Metaframeworks perspective. Since trauma affects most people at some point in their lives, comes in all shapes and sizes, can be the cause of many other mental health issues, and often threatens our safety and emotional integrity, I feel that it is critical to offer my clients the best quality assessment/treatment. I offer my clients hope and healing and the ability to flourish. Having published and presented on trauma, and as a clinician at St. Vincent's Behavioral Services, Intensive Outpatient in Bridgeport, Fairfield Counseling Services, Collaborative Counseling Group and as a Visiting Professor in the MFT department at Fairfield University, I bring to my practice both a diverse clinical and research expertise.

Feelings of depression, anxiety, loss or unexpected life circumstances oftentimes have a crushing way of throwing one off balance. At an emotionally vulnerable time, it may seem even more challenging to take care of oneself and to seek help through therapy. In a safe, empathic, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment, I provide sensitive psychotherapy to adults and couples. I believe that by working with people to help them recognize the origin of their emotional distress will allow them to pull on their strengths to overcome these challenges and gain a deeper level of personal insight. My expertise is in helping you to discover how relationships from your past without even being aware of it shape how you think, feel and make decisions about situations in your daily life.In individual and couples therapy I can illuminate when you might be choosing to do something that while familiar keeps you stuck in an old pattern. Ready to make a change? In 2020 I completed a four-year post-graduate program in Psychoanalytic Training at a New York Institute which qualifies me to work intensively and in-depth. In 2022, I completed a Couples Training Program. I am Patricia Gordon, Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience and training. Call me today!
