A Little More About Me I graduated with my bachelors from Flagler College in Psychology and Criminology and obtained my masters degree from the University of North Florida in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and I hold a certification in Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT). During my AAT training I was exposed to incorporating dogs and horses into therapeutic partnerships. I have years of front line experience working with children, adolescents, college aged, and adults facing emotional, behavioral, trauma, and substance use related challenges. I have provided services for these populations diagnosed with conduct related disorders, anxiety, depression, gender identity issues and more. Utilizing evidence-based modalities, I enjoy clients and their families to overcome whatever they may be facing to create a plan for a brighter future. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am eager to help you and your loved ones continue to grow in to the amazing people you are destined to become.

I've worked across the continuum of care, from case management and assessment roles in community mental health to inter-disciplinary care teams at the hospital, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient levels of care as well as in the college counseling center environment. I have done this strategically, to understand how clients currently being seen in a private practice environment may have encountered, or have fallen between the cracks of the current healthcare system. I am passionate about the experience of women who find themselves in caregiving roles - professionally or personally - that are both deeply important to their sense of self and prohibit the full expression of a sense of self. Think: adult children of immature parents, caregivers of aging parents, emerging adults navigating the premature loss of one parent, adult children of multi-generational family homes. The issues I am well prepared to support: anticipatory loss, disenfranchised grief, symbolic grief, burnout related to personal and professional caregiving roles, and the military-to-civilian transition in women veterans. While I do not see clients who are in an active phase of their eating disorder, I am well equipped to understand clients with a history of eating disorder treatment seeking to explore other, underlying dynamics after establishing a foundation in recovery. I regularly take trainings in the areas of eating disorders, complex trauma, and grief. And am always seeking opportunities to incorporate creative-writing-based interventions in my work.

Hello and welcome. I help clients heal from trauma, adverse childhood experiences and perinatal stress. Trauma can look like unresolved event-based trauma (shock trauma) as well as attachment and relational wounding (developmental trauma) that manifest in various forms of emotional distress. The resolution of unresolved wounding is important in the healing process because such wounds keep us repeating the same unhealthy patterns in relationships, family systems and professional roles. And, perhaps most importantly, these wounds keep us disconnected from ourselves. I am also a Qualified Supervisor for MHC Registered Interns. View 8 Photos My approach is completely trauma-focused. In addition to complex trauma I also specialize in perinatal, postpartum and pro-choice mental health. The perinatal period is a profoundly challenging transition and does not just refer to the emotional needs of the mother or gestational parent, but rather all individuals involved in the care of a new human. I am no stranger to the process of suffering or to that of healing. I meet my clients with an approachable, down to earth and gentle demeanor. I view myself as a fellow traveler, honored to walk alongside my client on their journey. I value my clients’ authenticity and emotional vulnerability, and I in turn do my best to embody and model these values myself.

Are you looking for a unique way to reduce stress and anxiety? Are you ready to rediscover your strengths and learn new ways of coping? Or are you looking for someone to help guide & support you through some of life's transitions that might be causing distance in your relationships? Allow me to introduce you to a different way of being in the natural world to grow and heal. View 5 Photos I have specialized education, training, and experience to provide a unique form of therapy called equine-assisted psychotherapy, aka equine therapy. My goal is to facilitate a relationship between you and the horse to serve as a metaphor and agent for change. This relationship is built through ground activities, no riding involved. Equine-assisted psychotherapy is a form of mental health counseling and can be provided as the sole form of counseling or may be used in conjunction with other behavioral healthcare services. Research has shown that interactions in outdoor settings with animals help decrease anxiety, stress, depression, and increase clarity.

Life can challenge all of us at different times in our lives. Sometimes the challenges are subtle and it can feel like there is no time to address them. Other times we are thrown into crises and need support that is both effective and timely. Whether you are experiencing a life transition, a lack of meaning and/or purpose, or acute anxiety and depression, I can provide you with support assist with your healing process. I also have a special focus in my practice on helping couples achieve better intimacy, healing from past breaches of trust, and calming negative patterns. I use Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFT) as it is one of the most evidenced based and successful couples therapies available. I am on track for EFT certification for early 2019 and have over 4 years of experience working with this modality and have assisted at a Hold me Tight workshop in which over 35 couples attended for a weekend of healing. My style is empathetic and compassionate and I use a Humanistic approach informed by Attachment Theory and through the lens of trauma informed care. In addition to this, I have completed trainings in Motivational Interviewing, Drama Therapy, Attachment focused EMDR, Internal Family Systems, TEAM CBT therapy, DBT, and mindfulness based interventions.
