Clients often come to me because they struggle with anxious or depressive symptoms and don't know how to improve. They are often surprised to learn that underlying these symptoms are often seemingly unrelated beliefs and feelings about relationships - particular relationships and relationships in general - that they didn't even know were there. Often clients believe that there is something "wrong" with them and their mental health, not understanding that with the right language to tell their story they often find that they make perfect sense! In addition to relationships and Schema, I also explore personality, values, and goals. View 7 Photos I love to help people improve and strengthen their relationships, or just learn to set healthier boundaries and practice better self-care. I know how important, but also difficult, relationships can be. I have experience with divorce, co-parenting, blending families, being a step-parent, adoptive parent, and biological parent, and the family court system. I love coming along clients and helping them to explore their life stories and relationships, and giving them new ways of relating to others and themselves. This often leads not only to a decrease in mental health symptoms such as anxiety and depression, but also to increased self-awareness, meaning, and hope for a healthier and happier future.

My internship and post-doctoral training has provided me with unique training in providing therapy and neuropsychological assessment to patients with dementia, brain injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and other medical conditions that are comorbid with psychiatric illnesses. Because I have extensively collaborated with other medical professionals in my work(neurologists, gerontologists, internalists, psychiatrists, NPs) I bring to therapy the unique perspective to consider the whole-person, and encourage comprehensive care. Hello! I’m Whitney and I LOVE redemption stories! It’s because working with men, women, and teens that are looking to shed past labels of themselves is my absolute specialty. I know exactly how this feels (very vulnerable, very nervous, and very scared) and how brave (you don't know it just yet). I believe that you are brave + strong and your story CAN have a different ending than what seems to be pre-determined at this point. I can help you unpack the hurt or hard feelings you’ve been holding onto for probably way to long, find confidence to speak your mind in all of your relationships, and cope with the thoughts that are holding you back from living the life you know you were meant to live. I understand the pain and negative impact that symptoms of depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, and trauma can create. I am passionate about the work that I do with my clients to assist them in exploring their past experiences and move towards greater feelings of relief and a renewed sense of hope for their future. You deserve it!
