Hello and thank you for stopping in! Deciding to participate in counseling can be a huge decision. My goal is to provide my clients with individualized and self-empowering therapy. I maintain that everyone is their own best expert. I believe that people have the strength and capacity to answer or understand concerns, hurt, or difficulties in their life, but sometimes they need someone to take the journey with them or to be their mirror. I honor the importance of the therapeutic relationship and strive to join clients where they are in their process. I work with individuals, couples, and families. My specialties include relationship communication, resolving high conflict, postpartum mood disorders, infertility issues, miscarriages, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, stress management, premarital issues, infidelity, trust issues, and life transitions. I base my counseling style on the clients needs. My career has been dedicated to understanding the relationship we have with others and the impact those connections make on our daily life. Strengthening the relationship with ourselves, our loved ones, and those we want to love more can open up avenues of understanding, acceptance, and change.

Deciding to seek counseling is a major step in anyone's life. Finding the right counselor can be even harder. My hope as a counselor is to bring myself, experiences and education to the room to help you. I attempt to create a safe, judgement free space to provide unconditional support for whatever it is that may be bringing you into counseling; meeting you where you are at and staying with you each step of the way. My clinical interests include anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship issues, self-esteem, severe and persistent mental illness, and LGBTQ+ issues. I approach counseling through a person-centered therapy lens. I incorporate a variety of other skills and techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and feminist therapy. I was trained by the EMDR institute and am working towards certification. I was also trained in clinical hypnosis by the Institute for Advanced Counselor Training. I believe in empowering my clients to develop a better understanding of themselves, freeing them to live a life of inner peace. Your desires and goals guide the therapy in the direction that best suits your desired outcomes.

Life and relationships can be difficult and messy. At times, help is necessary to find clarity and direction as we move toward the healthiest version of ourselves. My goal as a therapist is to provide a space where you feel safe, seen, and heard as we work together to address the issues which brought you into counseling. Building on professional and personal life experiences, I engage in counseling collaboratively with acceptance for who and where you are while building a therapeutic relationship which becomes a catalyst for change. I utilize an eclectic theoretical approach which best meets the needs of each individual. I enjoy working with adults, of all ages, through relationship and life transition issues – such as young adults entering a confusing world; and those challenged by ever-changing roles and phases of life. I believe in an individual’s ability to explore, grow, and use their unique story as a platform to determine goals and future journey. Divorce is a special interest. I strive to support individuals in maintaining their mental/emotional wellness and personal integrity during and after a process that is often filled with hurt and loss. The goal may be reaching a respectful completion of a relationship, creating a new definition of “family”, or something in between.

I'm taking video clients for Thursday only. Do you feel stuck, anxious and depressed and wonder what is wrong with you? Personal crisis, work burnout, the loss of a loved one, and stressful situations like those of 2020 make life even harder. Just deciding to change, talking yourself through it or “pulling yourself up by the boot straps” doesn't always work. Sometimes your pain is deep and rooted in the past. Maybe it’s not clear to you and held in your subconscious. That is often a normal outcome when we don’t get the support we need in our time of struggle. I get it. I’m here for you. By using EMDR, Hypnosis, Mindfulness, CBT, and some DBT I strive to get you back on track quickly. I provide a very caring, collaborative, and non-judgmental approach. You have to feel safe to work through and heal from trauma, grief and the sometimes limiting feelings and beliefs that pain can leave behind. I work with people ages 12 through adulthood who have depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, trauma (both emotional trauma and experiential trauma), acute grief, life transitions, and those who are motivated for change but feel stuck. I work Wed-Fri from 11-6:30 and can see telehealth people Thurs. Please e-mail or text to see availability

Once in a while everyone can use another set of eyes on an issue, or a wiser perspective from 30,000 feet. An experienced counselor/coach/guide in private practice since 1993, I offer results-driven, solution-focused counseling, communication training, conflict resolution, and business coaching. And we can unravel the National epidemic of elongated adolescence, the obvious three E's of narcissism, and children raising children, one client at a time. My Master's thesis addressed this in 1991 and it's getting worse. I would be honored to be part of your life, if even for a short while, until I retire in 2025 to write a book series. View 4 Photos My 200-page master's thesis, "The Relationship of Ego Development and Narcissistic Vulnerability to Divorce-Transition Impasse," details why people become stuck at impasse. I help adult clients grow up, view life from higher perspectives, to see that marriage is voluntary, is 80% manners, and like our Republic, is absolutely wonderful. "If you can keep it." Since 1993 clients have hired me as their realist, not to sit as a warm social presence, in which case I might suggest a puppy. I am warm & receptive but not gooey. Realistic but not harsh. I care deeply that you heal, strengthen, and will not rest until you succeed.

I specialize in marriage and relationship issues. Relationships are unique and require a different approach. What works in individual counseling fundamentally doesn't work for couples, and may even cause more harm than good. I understand the difference. Using an evidence-based approach, I bring perspective without blaming or taking sides. With your partner or even on your own, I'm here to help. If you're ready to make a lasting change or want to learn more, visit my site at staystrongtogether.com. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 22 years of clinical experience. I am a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist (EFT) endorsed by the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. I bring professional experience, my own relationship experience, and the ability to put couples and individuals at ease even in times of crisis and stress. We go through emotional intensity, but there is always room for laughter too. My perspective is that strong relationships are the foundation for well being.
