Accepting New Clients! I am a Mental Health Counselor working towards full licensure in the state of Iowa. I received both my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa and Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa. I have worked with ages 4 to adulthood on issues such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions. I enjoy working with clients who believe in their ability to change and are motivated to make those changes. In my work, I tend to use person-centered and strength-based approaches. I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship and as such my goal as a therapist is to create a safe space and meet each person where they are at in their journey. Having seen a therapist myself, I recognize the need for counseling and know how difficult taking that first step to reach out can be. Feel free to contact me as I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

My emotions make me feel out of control. I just want to live authentically & be accepted as me, but self-doubt & fear get in my way. My family/spouse is unhealthy at best & abusive at worst. I've lived so much of my life trying to be enough for everyone else that I lost myself in the process. I'm not even sure of who I am anymore. I thought they loved me, but then how could they treat me this way? My relationship feels like a constant rollercoaster. One minute things are great & then it's terrible. Worse, I have no clue how we even got there. It feels like madness. No contact? Limited contact? I just don't know what to do! View 7 Photos You have the courage & strength to live the life you desire, clear out the chaos, create healthy connections, & reach your personal goals. Families, couples and individuals impacted by trauma can find it difficulty to get the help they need. Trauma can impact a families basic ability to communicate and get along, fuel a couples difficulty to feel safe and heard by one another and erode an individuals ability to self regulate. It is common to feel stuck and more often than not, unacknowledged or unresolved trauma is the culprit. If you suspect there is trauma at play, holding you and your loved one back from real progress and change, real long lasting change is here. As a marriage and family therapist and a certified trauma professional, I possess a unique understanding of trauma and its transmission both generationally and genetically. My personal trauma has equipped me with insight that clients report as refreshing and insightful. Services are trauma, multicultural and social justice informed. Services include education on the effects, prevention, and recovery of trauma. Multiculturally-informed means biases (which we all have) such as ageism or sexism are seen as opportunities to increase awareness, strengthen relationships and enhance services. Cultural sensitivity is a priority.

I take into account the whole person (mind/body/spirit) and provide a non-judgmental approach to therapy. Together we will focus on finding and resolving the factors that are at the root of your mental health symptoms. These symptoms are often natural responses/adaptations to stressful life circumstances and traumatic experiences. From this perspective, these psychological parts become imbalanced over time and can get stuck in the past. Once they are properly integrated in the here-and-now, we can begin to live a life that is true to our purpose and in alignment with our highest selves. I use a unique blend of talk therapy and other more eclectic therapeutic techniques that can allow people to fully feel, understand, and integrate parts of themselves. Clients who have spent years in talk therapy have told me that they have received more benefit in just a few of our sessions than they had previously. (Licensed in Iowa and Wisconsin) Reach out and request a free consultation! I'd love to know a bit about what you're struggling with and we can see if we might be a good fit for therapy. If not, I will attempt to help you find someone who is. Accepting Wellmark/BCBS in the near future! Contact me to be put on my insurance waitlist :)
