Psychological testing can be a critical tool in clarifying diagnoses, assisting psychiatrists in making decisions about medication, and providing recommendations and resources to support decision-making about treatment. Psychological testing is commonly recommended to diagnose ADHD or learning disabilities. College students are often referred for this type of testing because they are struggling in school for the first time and there are no known reasons for their challenges. My therapy sessions are designed to provide patients with effective tools to help them cope with life's stressors and improve their overall well-being. My expertise is in providing psychological testing services for children & adults ages 6+ to assist with diagnostic clarification for conditions such as ADHD or learning disorders. I also work with adults ages 18+ for therapy. I use an integrated approach to treat a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and women's issues. My biggest priorities are making my clients feel that they are in a safe environment and helping them to understand we are a team, working towards a common goal. When conducting psychological evaluations I strive to help clients better understand their own unique strengths and weaknesses and support them by providing recommendations and resources.

While I have experience working in a dual-diagnosis treatment center for those struggling with substance abuse, I also have experience working with clients living with the effects of trauma, mood disorders like anxiety and depression, self-harm and suicide ideation, OCD tendencies and psychosis. In the counseling office I am supportive, non-judgmental and empathetic while maintaining a direct and solution-oriented approach to help you achieve your goals. I'm LGBTQ+ affirming and welcome all gender identities, sexualities, and presentations into my office. The interventions I use as a therapist are tailored to the clients I see, in effort to aid my clients in reaching their individual goals and needs. From a trauma-informed perspective, I use various modalities to meet my client’s needs including; REBT, CBT, ACT, solutions-focused, motivational interviewing, DBT and person-centered therapy. Through my experiences of being on the client side of the desk, I’ve developed a passion for facing the stigma of mental illness head on. The stigma of mental illness as shameful or a failure is entirely false. Helping people has always been a passion of mine, and it would be an honor to join you in this part of your life journey as your counselor.

I am a doctoral student at the University of Kentucky in the Department of Education and the Center for Research on Counseling Education. My research focuses on intellectual and developmental disabilities, with a specific focus on understudied populations. I believe that when a counselor recognizes the more significant contextual issues which affect the client's well-being, advocacy in combination with behavioral therapy can be an appropriate intervention for the client. Additional specialities include counseling education for: adjustment to chronic illness and disability, autoimmune disorders, autonomic dysfunction, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, suicidal ideation, OCD, generalized anxiety, and major depression. Each experience thus far has taught me the importance of real communication in higher education. I am intrigued by the individuals I have encountered; I marvel at unique stories, and I appreciate how each person is validated and empowered in exchange for sharing his/her history.

I am trained and experienced in EMDR for the reprocessing of painful memories and traumatic events. Disillusionment and suffering are inevitable parts of every life. Wounding from the past has a way of rearing its head when you least expect it, creating anxiety, depression, relational difficulties and much more. God has always been in the business of redeeming broken things, and that means restoration is possible for you! I understand that asking for help feels risky, and I applaud your courage in getting this far - I want to provide a safe space for you to explore your story and its impact on your life. I favor an integrative approach of evidence-based treatment modalities including acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive-behavioral practices, narrative therapy and mindfulness, and EMDR. This approach yields good outcomes for issues of trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship conflict, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and sexual abuse. Perhaps you too are facing life transitions, relational struggles or personal suffering. Perhaps a traumatic event from your past has re-surfaced, creating distress and distraction in your present life. I am deeply committed to helping you make meaning from your suffering, find redemptive purpose even in tragic circumstances, and live with authenticity.

I have worked with a broad range of clients with different mental health concerns. I enjoy helping those that feel they are stuck in how they think and process the world by assisting them in learning coping skills to change the thought patterns that keep them cycling through all the negativity. I am someone that will listen, never judge, and give you an outside perspective on what is causing you distress. I desire to work with people who want to change their mindset and are willing to try new things while understanding that healing takes time. I primarily use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy(CBT) and Motivational interviewing in my treatment. The primary purpose of CBT treatment is that success in therapy results from identifying and changing negative thoughts and/or beliefs that could be resulting in negative behaviors. The goal is to help you rewire your thought patterns from negative to positive. Starting therapy is not always easy and is often scary and nerve-wracking when you have never spoken to anyone about your issues and worry that if you did, they might judge you negatively for it. My goal is to help my clients feel accepted and safe.
