It is also client-centered, trauma-informed, and rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy. I have worked with children, teens, adults, couples and families in a variety of settings. But I specialize in helping Midlife and Young Adult women overcome anxiety, perfectionism and loss of identity. I’m also an LGBTQIA+ experienced provider and welcome clients who identify as such. My style is direct but supportive. I’ll challenge you in the most helpful way possible, and we’ll go at your pace. I will cheer you on as you make progress. I welcome humor, “colorful” language and YOU— just as you are. I understand how hard it is to tell a virtual stranger things you may not even want to admit to yourself. That’s okay. It is my hope that I and each person I work with intentionally strive toward living a more emotionally healthy life. My therapeutic focus often explores issues affecting attachment, with the goal to help clients become grounded in a secure sense of self and enjoy secure relationships with others. Our work may include aspects of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Polyvagal Theory, and possibly Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Art therapy is more than a creative therapeutic discipline. With 25 years as an art therapist and 10 years as an addictions counselor, I have helped numerous people. I am trained as a feminist therapist; my private practice is based on equity and human rights. With specialized training in working with those affected by trauma, post-traumatic stress, grief and loss, patriarchal structures and institutions, I strive to equalize power imbalances and encourage creative solutions to problems.

I specialize in Recovery Dynamics with males in intensive group therapy sessions. My focus is to help them reach their goals on the road to recovery. Anxiety, depression and mood disorders are a few issues that stem from this addiction disorder. My primary focus is to get to the root of these problems with those who feel they do not have the capacity to manage their own lives without drugs or alcohol. Group therapy is a great way to help addicts identify their struggles with some of the other clients who may be struggling with the same things. Intensive Out Patient can be helpful to those who could benefit from hearing other stories in group that deal with past trauma, abuse, and powerlessness over drugs and alcohol. You are able to relate to one another through the daily struggles of life and receive encouragement from others struggling. My goal is to always remain teachable because a counselor who loses sight of that trait, has lost what makes her effective. Difficult roads typically have the most desirable destinations, but the navigation of the journey is what makes that destination possible

My two favorite therapy types are EMDR and cognitive behavioral. Clients with trauma history and attachment wounds will find the combination of these approaches particularly helpful. My office is on Old Hammond near Airline. It is easily accessible for East Baton Route, Livingston and Ascension Parishes.
