Welcome! Throughout my clinical experience, I have treated a wide range of mental health issues with an emphasis on anxiety and phobias, as well as OCD, perfectionism, and trichotillomania. My background includes addressing adult ADHD/executive functioning difficulties, somatic and mood disorders, stress, grief, and relationship impasses. I often work with those whose anxiety or life experiences have led to avoidance as a psychological coping tool. I focus on adults across the lifespan, college students, and couples. I look to collaborate with my clients and seek purposeful, effective approaches to personal challenges. My intention is to help you move past stuckness, practice new templates of change, and cultivate a sound sense of self. Depending on your needs, I may integrate MI, CBT, ACT, ERP, SFT, Gottman Method, psychoeducation and mindfulness. While I am informed by attachment and existential frameworks, I am also a pragmatic, personable, and skill-building clinician. Prior to my therapist roles, I held health educator positions at Boston hospitals where I provided bedside health education to patients, and presented on the topics of health behavior change and stress management to medical teams. In addition, I have conducted clinical research and remain interested in the application of research to counseling psychology.

Who are you really? This is a question I ask my clients. I have been a psychotherapist and consultant for over 30 years. I draw on my innate intuitive abilities as well as my traditional clinical training to bring healing and transformation to my clients. My family systems background allows me to see the individual as a multifaceted system. What we perceive as a “problem” often reflects how we have adapted to the stress and trauma that we may have endured. Our perceived problems, such as addiction to substances, and other self- defeating patterns become encoded within our whole system, and ultimately distort our true essence. I use an integrative approach including holistic modalities and ancient wisdom traditions to assist clients in bringing themselves into authentic alignment. I help clients bring greater awareness to what it really means to heal so that they can live from a greater version of who they are. I perceive a person's healing as a creative process that is best achieved when drawn from many modalities. I counsel with the objectives of liberation and transformation in the heart of the work so that clients can release themselves from the "shoulds" in their lives. I encourage clients to feel empowered to live in their truth and gain self-mastery.

Psychotherapy focuses on restoring perspective and building confidence in addressing life's challenges. My approach is interactive, collaborative, and based on an appreciation of each person's creative potential. Through asking questions, sharing knowledge and observations, and getting feedback, we work towards self-discovery and understanding. Together we focus on clarifying goals and identifying effective ways to meet them. Psychotherapy involves recognizing patterns, expectations, or beliefs that may have been helpful in the past, but are no longer. Addressing these patterns removes barriers to change. Strengths are identified and fostered, becoming the foundation for new ways of approaching things. My theoretical grounding is drawn from a variety of perspectives, not committed to a single approach to all clients or needs. My expertise includes insight-oriented approaches, cognitive-behavioral therapy and systems therapy. In addition to my practice, I have taught a variety of graduate courses including a course on treatment of adult trauma survivors at Boston College.

In a grief-averse society that says to "get over" or "move on" from the death of a loved one, in a medical system that pathologizes bereavement as a disorder as early as one year after someone's death, in social circles that force toxic positivity, platitudes, and unsolicited advice on grieving folks, I long to offer a different presence. I come alongside traumatically bereaved children and families to offer meaningful and non-judgmental support in the wake of an unexpected or violent death, or after a prolonged illness. Death and trauma generate complex grief responses that deserve to be heard, honored, explored, and integrated. I hold a Graduate Certificate in Trauma Studies from Lesley University and a certification for Compassionate Bereavement Care offered by the Center for Loss and Trauma in partnership with the MISS Foundation and the Elisabeth Kubler-Ross Family Trust to be able to support those experiencing the effects of traumatic grief due to the death of a loved one. Through the use of expressive therapies and play therapy, I aim to build a relationship where youth feel comfortable being exactly who they are and where all of the parts of themselves can come forward, knowing they will be met with compassion, curiosity, and care. I support caregivers in evaluating their own needs as well as exploring family functioning.

People often don’t believe in therapy because they don’t believe they can change. Some people imagine their “ideal” self and feel that they are too far behind or too unstable to become that person. I do this work because I believe in people and I know they can change. My purpose as a therapist is to meet you wherever you are in your journey and create a safe, empowering space where we can work together as a team to move you closer toward your personal goals. This may mean processing past trauma, teaching you how to set better boundaries with people in your life, or helping you reframe your thinking about a current life change. My practice is focused on women who are often viewed as "too much" by others in their lives. I have extensive experience working with survivors of trauma, individuals experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, and relationship issues. I am also excited to offer supervision to individuals seeking clinical licensure! My approach is relational, supportive, and I love to laugh! If you are feeling skeptical about therapy, try having 2 sessions before making a decision either way. If you don't want to be stuck in this same place a year from now, it is time to try something different. Please reach out and take the first step!

Utilizing EEG biofeedback (neurofeedback), therapeutic music and hypnosis, we have a creative approach to individualize a treatment plan for every client. Our practice consists of both children and adults. Primarily the children come to work on ADD/ADHD or autistic spectrum disorders. The adults come for an array of issues: anxiety, depression, migraines, chronic pain and sleep problems. In addition, we work with clients for peak performance, i.e., eradicating barriers from even higher executive, academic, athletic or artistic excellence. We do very little 'talk therapy'. Instead, we obtain tremendous results with the aforementioned methodologies: Tomatis auditory training with Enlisten and Integrated Listening (iLs), ISF neurofeedback, NeuroField (pEMF training), LENS, z-score training, QEEG (brainmapping), pRoshi phototherapy, HEG (hemoencephalography), Vielight and photonic light. We represent a variety of backgrounds in our practice ranging from pastoral counseling, conventional talk therapy, experience in the computer industry to performing as professional musicians. Nearly all our protocols are dependent upon technology. We're walking distance to the Central Square T in Cambridge and near the State House in Concord. Parking is available.
