I am now accepting new clients as of 11/10/23! I have 21 years experience helping men learn how to be more resilient, be more relational, have healthier boundaries and improve self esteem, while helping them build their character. I have 5+ years offering couples therapy teaching the same skills. I take a customized approach with each client I work with. I especially enjoy helping those dealing with relationship challenges. My approach to working with clients includes using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Relational Life Therapy along with using coaching techniques. In order to make sure that this is a good fit for you, we will first, we will first meet for an informational meeting, at no charge. I will ask you about your challenges and what your goals are. I will then tell you about my approach and answer any questions you may have.

I help people who are having a hard time, often because of anxiety, relationships, work, and life transitions. I have extensive experience with a number of approaches that alleviate anxiety and depression and help you feel more in control. I will listen closely to your story, attending to what is most bothersome right now and what your goals are. We'll discuss possible approaches to help you feel better. Then, together we will make a plan. I have extensive experience offering coping strategies and problem-solving skills, as well as CBT, IPT, and other relationship-focused psychodynamic therapy. To help you feel better, we can address the "here and now." We can also look more broadly--are there things coming up now that feel familiar, that have been disruptive before? Therapy can give you strategies and options about how you think about past experiences and current stress. It is important to me that therapy is helpful and relevant to you. I seek to create an environment where you feel understood and supported. My style tends to be active and conversational. Because the fit between client and therapist needs to feel right, I am available to speak with you to see if I can be of help.

I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist who helps adults cope with mental health concerns and achieve their personal goals. I use cognitive-behavioral therapies that have been shown to improve emotional health. I specialize in treating anxiety, living with chronic illness, caregiver stress, and depression, as well as, developing coping strategies for more general life complexities and stress. I view therapy as a collaborative process and tailor interventions to the client’s needs. Often I expand my approach to integrate mindfulness and acceptance-based techniques. I am also trained as a clinical neuropsychologist and integrate this expertise to help clients understand the biology of mental health symptoms and the rationale for specific interventions. It is my goal to empower clients to develop strategies to cope with mental health symptoms and lead a valued life. I am an Assistant Professor at Boston University School of Medicine, and a Psychologist in the Spinal Cord Injury Service, within VA Boston. My Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology is from Boston University. I am currently taking new clients and welcome calls about starting therapy. I see clients on Saturdays in my Newton Center office.
