I enjoy working with adolescents and adults who have neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD, and Autism (ASD); Anxiety Disorders including (OCD), Social Anxiety, Phobias, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); developmental trauma, academic and work related problems, addictions, sleep problems, pain disorders, head/brain injury, age-related cognitive decline, pain disorders, migraines, and other problems. The good news is mental health is brain health, and by working together we can use your strengths to address your challenges via counseling and neurotherapy. Every Neurotherapy client starts with a qEEG Brain Map, which gives invaluable information related to how your brain is functioning. The measure of electrical activity in the brain helps to understand the brain’s strengths and weaknesses. The most cutting-edge Neurotherapy equipment is used to maximize our work and individualize your plan. Working in conjunction with the brain as it learns to self-regulate through neurotherapy, the mind is the focus of counseling. My approach to counseling is a collaborative effort between client and therapist. We can all benefit from optimizing our brains. Feel free to call or email me so we can work together to enhance your brain health.

When speaking with people about finding a therapist, I like to compare the process to finding the right hairdresser or making a new friend: If someone doesn’t match what you’re looking for or help you envision and plan for a healthier or more fulfilling life, then move on to the next one! Therapy is very personal, and I take a person-centered approach. My own experiences as a survivor of postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) - as well as firsthand knowledge of and experience in coping with family adjustment issues and addiction in loved ones – provide me the insight needed to have meaningful sessions with my clients. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) to clear the paths of negative thinking and to bridge experiences into learning and empowerment. I strive to keep my clients accountable in their journey to encourage growth. I have a Master of Arts in Counseling from Wayne State University, a CACREP accredited program. I am currently accepting BPD patients and PMAD patients. For BPD patients looking for DBT please call Jackie at 248-859-2457.

Understanding what is motivating a child’s behavior often takes a trained eye. The therapeutic relationship will help foster an understanding, work towards preventing and managing psychological based distress for both parents and children. Children often do not have the words to let parents know why they are acting the way they do. Parents wonder is this just a phase my child is going through? As a therapist my role is to gain an understanding of what makes your child do what he or she is doing. Working together with parents is a critical part of the therapeutic process to foster your child's success. My training in clinical psychology, child development and parenting provides the much needed skills in working with children and parents. My unique ability in connecting with children helps create the therapeutic process appear playful and reassuring. This provides parents the confidence and trust as we work together in understanding your child. Being a parent is the hardest job one can have. Children do not come with owner manuals. Reading books and going on the internet is not the same as an interactive relationship that puts together the pieces based on the individuals involved. Please contact me to start the process.
