We can find incredible joy in our families, but they can also be a source of great heartache. With the right guidance, we can make it through these tough times together and emerge with stronger relationships and closer connections. Adolescence is such an exciting time of self-discovery, exploring interests, and developing close friendships. These changes can also be daunting and scary for teens and their parents and cause tension in family relationships. I am passionate about providing guidance, coping skills, and a supportive listening ear to teens and their families as they navigate these exciting and turbulent years. I am devoted to helping couples rediscover the deep joy and satisfaction of a healthy relationship by helping you reconnect and rebuild your partnership in a safe space. I can help you change destructive patterns, improve your communication, and grow together from the challenges you are facing. I draw strongly from the strength-based approach of solution-focused therapy, empowering you to draw on your strengths and make lasting changes. I am trained in Discernment Counseling and am a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator. Making changes takes courage, and I would be honored to join you on this journey.

I've worked with people of all ages across the lifespan. Throughout my career I have worked with people of all ages managing experiences of depression, anxiety, addiction, technology, trauma, and abuse. I am "geek" and LBGTQ+ friendly and have experience with people from diverse cultural, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. I also have extensive experience working with people and families managing chronic illness, hospice and palliative care, and end of life decisions. With affirmation, practical education, and clinical guidance, I help individuals gain personal insights, nurture relationships, and manage difficulties in their lives. I combine solution-focused, strength-based therapeutic methods with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and skills work to directly address individuals specific concerns. I believe in the value and uniqueness of every individual and understand there is not a single path in life. My work is guided by a passion for providing people a supportive and therapeutic environment where they can grow, solve problems, and improve their lives and relationships. I believe in the importance of genuine engagement alongside clinical practice and aim to provide people the tools by which they can begin to confront life's challenges.

I offer therapy adapted to the needs of the client. If brief, problem-focused work is needed, I offer it. For clients seeking a fuller understanding of themselves and their personality styles, I provide open-ended, insight-based therapy. Because I recognize each person as a whole, complex individual, I try to see each person and each set of difficulties in context. Proper resolution of problems often requires attention to the complexity--the emotional, physical, cognitive, spiritual, and interpersonal dimensions --of the client's experience. Prevention of future difficulties also ranks high in the priorites of my therapeutic work. I offer diverse psychotherapeutic techniques because "one size does not fit all" when it comes to personal issues. I combine psychodynamic, cognitive, and family systems approaches. However, my central orientation is phenomenological, which stresses the uniquness of the individual, the client's language, and sources of meaning and purpose. While I offer counseling services for a wide variety of common personal and family difficulties, I possess a keen interest in treating the following problems: depression, couples' conflicts, difficulties of single persons (issues of compatibility, dating stress, etc.), and existential issues involving questions of personal meaning and value.

I am a firm believer in the power of relationships, to both hurt and heal. In my work with clients, I let the idea harms inflicted through relationships must be healed through relationships guide my approach. If we work together, expect me to be genuine, direct, and caring. I use empathy, humor, and curiosity to provide a feeling of safety and a secure base for clients to explore. I have experience with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders and specialize in the areas of: anxiety, life transitions (especially menopause/perimenopause), parenting, and addiction (those who struggle with addiction and their loved ones). View 6 Photos I use motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and an existential framework to elicit clients’ goals and priorities. I understand my role as a privilege and a guide; I help clients discover insights into their lived experiences, uncover core beliefs, and determine priorities for the lives they deserve to create. I hope my clients feel challenged to see things in new ways and reimagine the way they think about themselves, others, and the world. Honoring diversity and recognizing my own blind spots and biases is extremely important to me, privacy and safety are prime concerns.
