During the course of our lives we experience many joys and hardships, and along with them the full range of human emotions. Each moment and feeling is an opportunity to better understand self, other, and the world. Your painful feelings may be signals that old wounds need to be acknowledged or that your truth is not being lived fully. If you are currently struggling to cope with life challenges, feeling unfulfilled or seeking personal growth, the therapeutic relationship can provide an open and nonjudgmental atmosphere to explore the body and mind in a safe, comfortable space. View 8 Photos I work with adults and couples impacted by childhood trauma, intrusive thoughts, anxiety and panic, relationship issues, codependency, identity confusion, low self esteem, and grief/loss. I believe therapy is useful for everyone, whether you are struggling to cope with general life stressors or want to work on becoming your best self. I discovered early in my career that traditional talk therapy doesn’t work best for everyone. I draw on ancient practices, Eastern medicine and evidence-based research to awaken your innate healing potential. If you’re ready to try something different from traditional psychotherapy, I may be a great fit for you!

My clients- bright, innovative thinkers, held back by things they can’t think their way out of. To others, they’re leaders, experts, visionaries, and healers; but on the inside, they silently suffer with change, negative belief-systems, unexplainable feelings, upsetting memories, or hopelessness. They want therapy that works, with a MH Professional as motivated as they are, to drive the results that will justify their investment in it. Goals involve dissolving and recycling corrosive thoughts, feelings, and experiences, to improve daily functioning, maximize performance, and make self-care a necessity, as opposed to a luxury. View 3 Photos I help motivated people feel unstuck, using EMDR to reprocess nitty gritty details of experiences that shaped their identities. My inspiration- witnessing what more externally successful people can do, when they finally believe in themselves, as much as they do their specific skills and abilities. Here, find out more on my Insta, reprocessingtherapy Since time is our most valuable, nonrenewable resource, I offer therapy on weekends. If you're ready to commit to next level, weekend self-care, reach out. Counseling that's on your schedule, is just a call or text away.

Engaging in therapy is an important commitment and can be difficult to fit in with the rest of life's responsibilities. Perhaps you've tried therapy before and found it unhelpful, or worry that constant engagement in therapy is required for lasting change. Trying to cope with the aftermath of trauma, or the way anxiety symptoms can disrupt a day, or having the same fight again and again with a partner can seem to take all of your energy and motivation. Life is often stressful and chaotic, and the times when we feel most stretched thin are the times we need the most support and change. I believe the best outcome of therapy is graduating from therapy - knowing you now have the tools to do what YOU want to do in life. I have spent most of the first 10 years of my career as a Psychologist in the VA, which has allowed me to obtain expert training in effective therapy protocols that produce quick, lasting results - so you can get on with life. Your goals are reachable - we just need to find our way there. Every person's path is different, and I look forward to walking with you on yours. I use effective, proven tools from CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based approaches to guide both individuals and couples toward their chosen destinations. Please reach out to me today for a free 15 minute consult.

I believe in using therapy as a means to help people find the tools within themselves to move toward positive mental health and overall wellness. I believe in support over solution; in walking with someone to face their unique issues however they need rather than “fixing” them. As a social worker, I consider the “whole person” and the systems impacting them to offer a positive therapeutic experience to every client and help them to feel seen, heard, and supported. I specialize in using EMDR with neurodivergent folx who may feel less-than, not good enough, inherently wrong, etc. I use a blend of talk therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing to help clients move through both "big T" and "little t" trauma. Whether you've been through a singular traumatic incident or you've had minor traumatic incidents that built into a negative belief, EMDR can be used to help you better understand yourself and heal. I come to each client with a nonjudgmental, person-centered approach and I will do whatever I can to to help someone move closer to being their best self. I believe that each person deserves love, respect, and support no matter what. I am a fierce advocate for others and a relentless support for those who need it, and I am here to be that for each client.

I work to facilitate a supportive and collaborative environment to help you heal from painful experiences, break those cycles and embody the change that you want. I work with people who feel overwhelmed--by work, big transitions, relationships, family, life. My approach is gentle, non-judgmental, and deep. I enjoy helping clients become more fully aware of themselves and of the patterns that hold them back in life, and working with them to feel more grounded and connected with themselves and with others. Many of my clients are people who are in helping professions or caretaking roles. Many are women or non-binary individuals, and are longing to feel more at home in their own skin and more confident in their own strength, beauty, and wisdom. View 7 Photos I want to support you in being the wonderful human you are in a way that is sustainable and nourishing, and that brings you joy! My work is rooted in the Hakomi Method (a somatic therapy), Expressive arts, and ecotherapy. In therapy, we'll use these as tools to help you feel more embodied, and to empower you to feel greater clarity and freedom in life. The fact that you are here looking for support is both courageous and wise! Life can be challenging, but you don't have to go it alone. If it seems like I might be a good fit for you, I would love to chat with you for a 15-20 minute phone consultation. I love supporting people who are ready to look a little deeper into all parts of themselves. I specialize in trauma (PTSD) and relationship challenges- and of course how they might overlap. I work well with clients who are feeling hopeless or overwhelmed in the dating world, as well as those who are feeling stuck in an unhealthy relationship or marriage. I want to help you become empowered and make the best choices for yourself. Many of my clients have come to therapy without any awareness that they have experienced "trauma" or how that might play a role in their stuckness. I am both EMDR and somatically trained, which means I not only process things verbally, but also focus on how you store stress in your body. My clients report feeling a deepened sense of relief and understanding of themselves from this approach. My goal is to help clients connect to their inner wisdom and make sustainable and lasting changes. I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna insurance, as well as private pay.

Life can be challenging. For adults those challenges can include parenting, relationships, job stress, overwhelming emotions, life transitions, and many more. Challenges for children and teens can include school-related issues like academic stress, bullying, peer pressure, general "drama", and others. Ultimately, we are all searching for safety, satisfaction and fulfillment in our lives. Often, however, we are unsure how to deal with the challenges that prevent us from finding what we're searching for. It can be hard to know where to turn for help and hard to ask for that help. I have worked as a therapist in western North Carolina since 2001 and enjoy working with all ages, especially children and parents. For those seeking improved relationships, increased confidence in parenting skills, coping and emotion management skills, and help navigating the busy, complicated world we live in, I have experience in these areas and more. For me, counseling is more than a job - it's a calling. If you're looking for caring, compassion, listening without judgment, authenticity and integrity, you've come to the right place. I am ready to join you as you seek a more fulfilling, satisfying life. Pause. Breathe. Now you're ready. Let's do this together.

Therapy can help you understand how past experiences impact your daily life and relationships. By recognizing these patterns, we can begin cultivating lasting change in our interactions and relationships. Most of my clients want to improve their relationships, their sex life, or explore their identities or transitions. I specialize in sex and relationship therapy, enhancing intimacy and desire, improving differences in desire, and working through pain or dysfunction, particularly within the queer community. I also offer psychological evaluations to clarify diagnoses and collaborate on treatment recommendations. My therapeutic style is inquisitive, direct, humorous, and warm. I tailor my approach to each individual, drawing from psychodynamic perspectives, attachment theory, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. My work is rooted in psychological science and within an anti-racist LGBTQ+-affirming, sex-positive framework. Beginning your journey in therapy can be challenging and intimidating, and I believe that finding the right therapist is essential.
