What does it mean to be back to "normal"? The stress or not knowing how and when our lives might be back to “normal” can be very destabilizing. What was hard in our lives before this mess has now been amplified. In an effort to reduce the stress and assist clients with these uncertain times I’m offering secure telemedicine (video) sessions for couples and individuals. Reach out and allow me to team with you to manage what we can and allow these times to inspire positive change. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist who uses EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), Soloution Focused, Systems, and Coactive Coaching . I enjoy working in a manner that views clients as experts in their own lives. I see my role as one of exploring with clients in an effort to expand narrowed perceptions of issues that arise. Creating change requires courage and support and finding the right support for you is key. I encourage potential clients to reach out and explore my style and therapeutic approach to determine if I might be the right fit . Give me a call or send an email and I will happily assist you in taking the next steps.

Do you struggle to get your needs met in your relationships? Perhaps you try repeatedly and fail to achieve harmony? I have a special interest in working with individuals experiencing unhappiness in their important relationships. When my clients first come in, they may feel they are doing the heavy lifting and hope that things will change. Their relationship dissatisfaction gets in the way of the life they want in so many ways. They aren’t the person they strive to be according to their values. They feel like they are failing as a partner and in life. Greater self-confidence and fulfillment are attainable. My experience as a therapist at Duke’s counseling center and on the front lines working with women in abusive relationships at a local agency has provided me with a deep understanding of these challenges and their impact. My hope is also that our time together will provide you with a safe place to express difficult emotions that you may have kept inside for too long. We will also collaborate to achieve your goals. If you want to love yourself again and in your relationships, I’d love to help you get there.

I am interested in our struggles to become ourselves. My decision to become a therapist was based on my own experiences in therapy. Most people come to therapy because they are in pain and life is not working out as they hoped. That means that some of therapy is about the relief of pain and some of it is about a reorganizing of one's life. The experience of therapy also affects the therapist, so I have learned a great deal from my patients. I think "openness" would be a good word to describe my sense of how the process develops. I specialize in issues that relate to men; also grief work, creativity and life transitions such as divorce, midlife struggles and other major changes. I changed my career in order to become a therapist. This makes me attuned to people's life journeys. I'm a writer and the creative process holds fascination for me. I have been involved in the "men's movement" for many years and feel connected to issues men face. I also see therapy as a way of taking "time out" to develop skills and appreciate who we are and assess the blocks that prevent us from becoming more fully ourselves.

As an expressive arts therapist, I am dedicated to helping children and adolescents navigate their emotions, find their voice, and discover their true selves. I believe that the arts provide a powerful outlet for expression, allowing us to tap into our innermost thoughts and feelings. In our sessions, I create a safe and inclusive space for your child to explore their internal world. Through various art forms, we delve into the depths of their experiences, unraveling emotions that may have been held tightly within. My approach is holistic and strength-based, tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual or group. View 6 Photos While I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent children and individuals struggling with eating disorders, anxiety, and depression, my doors are open to all who seek support and growth. You don't need to have any prior art experience to benefit from expressive arts therapy. I invite you to reach out to me for a free consultation. This initial conversation will provide us with the opportunity to connect, learn more about your child's specific needs, and discuss how expressive arts therapy can bring about positive change.

www.ComfyChairCounseling.com Availability 10am to 4pm. Through an approachable, engaging style which brings humor, compassion and an unrelenting belief that things can get better, I strive to help clients develop effective patterns of thought and skills in order to achieve greater success and satisfaction in their lives and relationships. With the shift to telehealth, rather than coming to my office, I’m now invited into your homes as well as your lives. I strive to create a welcoming supportive therapeutic space in our virtual sessions. I show up as fully human: authentic, imperfect and always comfortable in jeans and sneakers. The therapy model from which I primarily work is CBT or eclectic, incorporating elements of other models, e.g. systems-orientation, play therapy, behavior modification, and positive psychology. I emphasize trouble-shooting strategies, self-compassion, kindness to self & others, natural supports, healthy relationships, gratitude and experiences of happiness. As a trauma specialist, I have cultivated a compassion and broad understanding of experiences & the biological responses that inform our mental-emotional well-being. I often share the latest research/study findings on any given particular issue. My personal background provides me with a unique perspective and a commitment to cultural humility and allyship.
