UNFORTUNATELY AT THIS TIME MY SCHEDULE DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO TAKE ON NEW PATIENTS / CLIENTS. I have been a psychotherapist for 30+ years and as of 2005 my practice has focused exclusively on matters of grief and loss. Losing a loved one(s) or anticipating loss can be the most painful experience in our lifetime. Everyone's life story is unique as is one's passage through grief. There is no standard fixed road map to follow but there can be a way to create what will work specifically for you and your needs and desires. I offer short term therapy--beginning with 7 sessions where we focus on navigating the emotional challenges you now face with your loss. After 7 sessions we decide whether we need to continue our work, finalize the work at that point, or set up a new treatment plan. I use an integrative approach drawing on a variety of models and theories. Understanding how difficult it can be to start therapy after a loss, I offer an opportunity to schedule one session by phone or in-office visit before deciding to continue with the 6 additional initial sessions.

Effective therapy can help you gain clarity, an increased sense of inner calm and discover and embrace your authentic self. Because each individual is unique, sessions are customized to meet your specific treatment needs. My approach emphasizes attuned listening, reflective feedback, collaborative insight and an exploration of underlying emotions and processes. In addition we may highlight your personal strengths and interests, in order to promote a fulfilling pathway ahead. Sessions take place once or more per week, depending on individual needs. Drawing from a range of Relational Psychoanalytic and strengths-based modalities, I most often work with individuals who are experiencing: depression, anxiety, life transitions, past trauma, dating, marriage, mid-life, family, work or career issues. My versatile approach also suits those who are interested in personal growth & self discovery. I pursued my masters in Social Work at NYU, and post-graduate study certifications in Advanced Clinical Practice from NYU and the Stephen Mitchell Center for Relational Studies. Most recently I received certification in Specialized Clinical Topics from the William Alanson White Institute, and value on-going education to enrich the therapy experience.

I have a Masters in Social Work from Hunter College School of Social Work and a Post-Masters Certification in family and couples therapy from the Ackerman Institute for the Family. I specialize in the areas of trauma, adolescence (including self-harm and cyber bullying), adoption-related identity and parenting issues, multicultural individuals, couples and families. I am LGBTQ+ -friendly and work with clients of all genders and orientations. As a therapist, one of my missions is to help you recognize that while your experiences-your fears, your losses, your triumphs-are unique, you are not alone. For adults hoping to heal from trauma and develop new coping skills; for those grappling with loss, relationship strife, adoption issues, racial or gender identity; for anyone suffering from depression or anxiety, we'll start where you are. Together we'll navigate the stumbling blocks to a calmer, happier place. Though I do not take insurance at this time, many carriers reimburse a portion of my fee. Check with your insurance company to find out what your benefits cover in terms of out of network mental health.
