I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 30 years of experience as a coach, counselor, and therapist. I see people from New Jersey virtually, and in person in Rochester Minn. Effective therapy begins through a relationship in which one feels heard and understood. I listen well. From that foundation my aim as a therapist is to identify and understand ways in which you may be caught in unfulfilling ways of thinking and interacting , and then work together to uncover and develop strengths and skills to flexibly move toward a more fulfilling and satisfying life. If you’re feeling down - let’s talk - I can help. View 5 Photos My approach is compassionate and client-centered. I have a flexible approach, utilizing a humanistic and systems based bio-psycho-social understanding of development, challenges, growth, and optimal functioning. My goal is to help you build resilience, flexibility and strengths to actualize a self-selected life direction. It can be difficult to reach out for help. It is a big step but be assured; I have a great deal of experience in helping to understand, manage stress, overcome challenges, negotiate difficult life transitions, and build effective coping skills. I provide a safe place to explore challenges and develop new ways of healing, growing and being.

I provide counseling to individuals with anxiety and depression, and those who are going through stressful life circumstances. This can include adjustment to life changes and transitions, recent injury, divorce, and/or relationship problems. I also specialize in college mental health counseling and enjoy helping young adults plan for their future. Together we will examine the presenting problems and understand how earlier life experiences may be contributing to issues or ongoing problematic patterns. I value open communication, honest feedback, and generate a safe place to talk. I utilize cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapy with the flexibility to pull from other methods. I integrate other forms of treatment to find the best fit for each client. We may focus on managing overwhelming emotions, learning new coping skills and problem solving strategies, strengthening communication, and improving overall quality of life. Discussing personal issues can be difficult. Finding the right therapist and building a trusting relationship are so important for positive therapeutic results. I prioritize establishing a trusting relationship first, meet my clients where they are at, and go at their pace. I frequently check in to make sure their needs are met and encourage feedback.

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson. This is my favorite quote and what I try to reinforce when working with my clients. I believe therapy is a healing journey that consists of gaining awareness, insight, and growth. I work with my clients on identifying and setting concrete goals in order to move beyond their obstacles. I concentrate on helping my clients overcome negative thinking patterns while building self-esteem as they navigate life’s challenges. My areas of interests and experience are in: Anxiety, Depression, Stress Reduction and Management, Relationship issues, Women's Issues, overcoming negative thinking patterns, and Substance Use/Co-Occurring disorder related issues. My commitment to working with my clients, is to help my clients learn effective coping skills and techniques. I work with the theoretical approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and have found this approach to be highly successful when working many populations. I offer 15 minute phone consultations, and would appreciate hearing from you, please feel free to contact me. Congratulations on taking this step towards healing. Wishing you much success on your journey!
