I believe our relationship with ourself impacts all other relationships in our life, hence making it the most important one to focus on. I work with adults and teens who are experiencing stress, intense anxiety, depression, and grief. I believe therapy can transform someone's life through the process of exploring current or past events and stressors. Together, we can uncover beliefs, thoughts, and traumas, as we work to empower you towards self-acceptance and healing. Together we will explore and clarify your goals and desires, then work to identify and address barriers to feeling better. Starting therapy takes courage, but I believe that each of us deserves to live our happiest life, despite difficult circumstances. I aim to facilitate effective therapeutic conversations to bring healing, elicit insight, and encourage growth. If this sounds like what you’re looking for, please, feel free to reach out. I am currently accepting clients via telehealth in NV and CA, and have select appointments available in-person in Reno, NV.

*DR. BOSWELL IS NOT ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS** I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist as well as a Licensed Psychologist who has worked with individuals, couples, families, and children over the past 15 years. I adopt a collaborative approach wherein the client and I begin to explore the areas of one’s life that cause suffering. Together, we undercover unhealthy, cyclical patterns that can lead one to feel stuck in life. It is my hope that my clients will develop a greater awareness of themselves, find purpose and meaning in life, and experience greater satisfaction in their relationships. I treat trauma, depression, anxiety, and severe mental illness. I also have specialized training in grief and loss. Life can be unpredictable at times and we can all get thrown off course by unforeseen and unfortunate events. Therapy is an opportunity to share your story in a safe place and learn how to heal and move forward in healthy ways. I have worked extensively with children and adolescents and I am trained in play therapy, parent coaching, and co-parenting models. As a family and couples therapist, I aim to increase communication, compromise, and compassion. Everyone of us stumbles in life sometimes and it takes enormous courage to ask for help. Consider taking that first step today.

I am looking to work with BIPOC, AAPI and Third Culture individuals. I see you as a whole person and aim to avoid reductionist and pathological interpretations. I believe that therapy offers a way for us to examine our narratives and their meanings. I work with people who are transitioning in all realms. People experiencing racism, grief/loss, those living with depression and anxiety, PTSD, and chronic burnout. I have extensitive training to support infertility, postpartum, or current or future parents .I deeply value spirituality, mindfulness, yoga and the arts. I am direct and compassionate in my communication style. I strive to cultivate a safe, inclusive, non-judgmental space. I invite clients to know their strengths, self-worth, intrinsic values, and capacity for growth. My theoretical framework is eclectic & holistic, drawing on evidence-based theories to existential/humanistic theories. I am fluent in Mandarin and conversational Spanish. I Love Reno! Other places I have lived are San Francisco, Amsterdam, Taipei, Buenos Aires, Manhattan, Los Angeles, and Madrid. I enjoy Friday night dinners with friends/family, boxing, art, cultural happenings, hiking, hot springs, bike rides, literature, podcasts, and jaunts with my three not-chill kids.

I enjoy working with teens and adults along their journey towards finding resilience and strength in difficult situations. My practice is grounded in a person-centered approach and I specialize in working with people who have experienced trauma and extreme anxiety, starting by creating an atmosphere of safety. I strive to meet your "survival" strategies with validation and kindness as we explore positive changes that you want to make in your life.  My approach is primarily based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with emphasis on mindfulness-based and integrative strategies. Areas I’ve had most training and experience treating are anxiety, trauma (including complex trauma), depression, grief/loss, interpersonal issues, veterans issues, stress, self-esteem, issues related to shame and forgiveness, anger, and impulse control. I also have a special interest in  utilizing nutrition-informed approaches for mental health treatment. One of the hardest parts of therapy is just getting started. The human experience is not always easy and finding real solutions takes commitment, but therapy can provide a supportive space along this journey.
