I use mindfulness and somatic practices to help clients develop compassion and deepen self-awareness. This allows new perspective and novel ways of relating to self, which is the foundation for healing and transformation. Together we will embark on this journey of rediscovery of your values and how to live a meaningful life. My expertise lies in working with individuals who are navigating life transitions, feeling disconnected from themselves or others, or grappling with a loss of purpose. I specialize in addressing concerns such as anxiety, men's issues, grief, trauma, shame, and existential questions. I use internal family systems, gestalt therapy and a transpersonal perspective to integrate the mind, body, spirit, and environment. I believe that through deeper contact and awareness of self, we can bring compassion to parts of ourself that need it, and one can learn from and release old stories and burdens that no longer serve who you are. I invite you to reach out and see how I can help you on your path towards healing and transformation. I am excited to meet and begin working towards our deepening awareness and development of compassion together. I invite you to reach out, and I will let you know some good times to meet.

Perhaps you are going through a rough patch and could use support and guidance, or perhaps you’ve struggled for many years and would like to see things differently, live things differently and are ready to “do therapy.” You are not broken. We each of us are inherently whole and in response to internalized messages and expected roles, or difficult situations and difficult histories, ill health, extreme stressors or trauma, our lives can feel broken. My passion is to help you feel more connected to yourself and the people you love and the world around you. View 6 Photos My warm and compassionate approach is focused on you as the expert of your own life, experience, and story. I draw upon collaborative, evidence-based therapy practices to help you find balance and meaning, help you to identify and build on your strengths, while providing the support needed to get you there. Whatever you choose to work on together, I'd be honored to walk alongside you in your journey. I have worked 15 years in social services, and been a service user myself, so I understand the difficulty of navigating systems of care. I also know the healing power of therapy. If any of this hits right, reach out. Let’s see if we might work together. - Amy

You have probably read some books, listened to podcasts but are tired of not seeing results or feel that nothing is changing. Perhaps you're dealing with anxiety or depression, maybe it’s your family, or thoughts and habits. Maybe it’s a disappointing relationship or the lack of relationship. Maybe you have no idea what it is and that’s why you’re here! I help individuals and couples grow in personal insight and skills that translate into a more enriching life and more enriching relationships with those around us. Most of us benefit from some combination of being listened to and accurately understood, trying out alternative behaviors, learning new information relevant to our problem and re-examining what we have been taught about who we are. My style is authentic and interactive: I won't stare at you in silence, only occasionally making mysterious interpretations. I know how hard it is scrolling through a lists of therapists and guessing which one will be the right one. I approach therapy as an active collaboration. I am authentic and playful but also very serious about getting you results. I have specialized training in relationships and attachment, family systems, parenting and healing of trauma and PTSD.

*Practice is full.* Do you find yourself repeating the same dysfunctional patterns in relationships? Or maybe you feel like you're on high alert much of the time, waiting for something bad to happen? Maybe you've been reaching for a glass of wine just to help you sleep at night? Wounds from the past - divorce, abuse, loss, bullying, etc.- stick around, causing problems long after the events have ended. Often, we don't even realize the effect that trauma has on us. And if left untreated, these unwanted patterns will continue. Luckily, trauma wounds can be healed and patterns changed. By using a tailored blend of methods, including evidence-based Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), we can work together to help you break out of your same old ways and cultivate something different in your life. Let’s get started with healing to create more balanced relationships, improved self-confidence, a calmer, more positive outlook, enjoyment of life, restful sleep, and more. I also provide supervision for LPC/LMFT interns working toward licensure.

Often times, navigating relationships can be similar to walking through a minefield. The only problem is that most of us tend to step on a few mines. The deep hurt and emotional trauma that each exploding mine causes in our lives is carried into all subsequent relationships we dare to enter. In dealing with the pain of past relationships, many struggle to cope and find solutions to push back against their very real pain; many of these solution cause deep wounds of their own. As a Licensed Counselor, working from a psychodynamic perspective, my goal is to foster a safe, confidential, therapeutic relationship in order to fully process the pain. My practice focuses on working with adults and couples with the following concerns: relationship issues, communication, Bi-polar, depression, PTSD, anxiety, bereavement, and trauma. Graduating from Corban University’s School of Clinical Mental Health Counseling, a CACREP accredited graduate program, he completed both his practicum and internships at the Salem Free Counseling Clinic in Salem, Oregon.
