Feeling like there is just too much to process? I help clients develop healthy self-compassion as they balance responsibilities and relationships with the cumulative stress of unresolved traumas and/or the current economic/political/environmental crises. When we explore patterns in our boundaries, families, and relationships, we can reveal deeper truths and unmet needs, and are empowered to make changes that promote safety and reduce the feeling of being stuck. It is important that you feel heard by a professional who supports you. Third Culture Kids, nomads, fish out of water, and micro-minorities welcome. We will create context. I work collaboratively to address shame and suffering resulting from abuse, neglect, erasure, and power imbalances, including invisible/marginalized identities, moral injury and existential dread. I have worked extensively with individuals and relationship systems whose stories hold trauma. I support many who once thought they were “too weird” for therapy. Relief is important to me. It’s likely you have already spent a lot of energy coping with the mental and/or physical manifestations of your suffering. Allow me to join you so that we can continue and build something sustainable together. You do not deserve to feel out of place in your own life. Call me for a free consultation and let’s do this work together.

I started in the field working as a substance abuse counselor intern conducting group therapy and individual therapy in an IOP/PHP setting. I had the experience working with court mandated clients. I have also worked in an inpatient substance abuse setting where I also conducted groups, facilitated lectures on recovery topics and provided individual therapy and case management. Following this position, I found myself in outpatient mental where I gained the most clinical experience working with a diverse population and treating a variety of issues. I have worked with children as young as 10, adolescents and adults up to age 65. My approach when treating all clients is tailored. I tend to be primarily cognitive based in my approach but I will often bring in other approaches from person centered, solutions focused, or REBT. I am direct and authentic within the therapeutic relationship which I believe fosters change within clients. My areas of focus are substance abuse disorders, dual diagnosis, grief and loss, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, life transitions, employment stress, trauma, and self-esteem issues.

Does this sound like your internal dialogue?: “What is wrong with me? Why can’t I just do better, be better? Will I always feel this broken?” What if the answer is that there is NOTHING wrong with you. What if you were to find out that you are fundamentally, at your core, a deeply good and capable human. What if love and acceptance for self and others were your status quo? We will explore aspects of yourself that may be difficult to love and accept, to help you better understand why you are repeating patterns that are harming you or the people around you, and to find a place where you can safely express all of who you are. I’m Ames. I am white, queer, non-binary/ trans and social justice oriented. I provide gender affirming and trauma informed care to those embarking on a journey related to gender and sexuality identity exploration or interested in working on trauma or abuse history. My training in dance/ movement therapy, EMDR, and acceptance practices will inform our work. Our work together will focus both on development of coping skills to navigate daily stressors and triggers and, at times, will look back to experiences from the past that influence your life and relationships. Letters of support for gender affirming care provided, no long term commitment necessary. I work with adults and children 12 and over.

You are the expert on your own life. Many believe that going to therapy is about someone else giving you the answers, but the truth is, therapy is all about someone coming alongside of you with support and encouragement so that you, the expert, can achieve the goals you want for your life. Therapy works because you choose it! My name is Ashley Slade and I am here to partner with you. As an eclectic/integrative therapist, I utilize many skills and techniques to advocate for you as an individual and for the situations that are present in your life. I will encourage your voice, verbally and nonverbally to enable self-expression, self-reflection, and self-awareness to help you build and maintain a positive sense of self. My psychotherapeutic approaches and interventions are humanistic, experiential, cognitive-behavioral, and psychoanalytic. My clinical lens is trauma informed – understanding that things happen to people, always believing your life narratives and recognizing that though there are steps to recovery, it isn’t easy. As a Movement Therapist, I focus on mind/body connection, facilitating breath-work, mindfulness and embodiment techniques.

I am passionate about helping individuals reclaim their power over their life by using their strengths and resiliency to overcome their struggles. I love working with teen girls and young women struggling with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, body image, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and OCD. However, I welcome any person and would be honored to share in your healing journey! I understand that recovery is a process and you are not a person who needs to be fixed, but rather someone who needs support and a safe space for healing. I am HAES (Health at Every Size) aligned and I use a humanistic approach, free of judgement, and full of empathy with all my clients. I am also trained in and use interventions rooted in CBT, DBT, and ERP. I know what it's like to feel as if you're living on autopilot and I understand feelings of hopelessness and loneliness that come with navigating mental health. Recovery is possible and I am dedicated to helping you get to a place where you can say, "Been there, WON that!" Also, my furry friend Ace may pop into a session to celebrate a win!

Are you concerned about your child, but not sure how to help them? Are you worried they may not open up in traditional talk therapy? As an art therapist, I may be able to help. I specialize in working with school-aged children and their families, and believe parents and caregivers play a pivotal role in their child’s healing. I work to help kids understand their challenges and feelings, as well as develop strategies to overcome and cope with them. I also offer parent sessions to help you best support your child and help them practice the skills they learn in session. Sometimes it can be hard to find the words for our experiences, and it can feel scary to open up. Art therapy offers a way to communicate non-verbally, which helps kids to feel safe to explore their feelings and inner worlds. It is difficult to witness your child struggling, and it can be tough to know which road to take when seeking out a therapist. I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation to discuss your concerns and see if I would be a good fit for what your child needs. Reach out and start your family’s path to healing.

Ms. Welty received her MS degree in Clinical Psychology from Chestnut Hill College. With over 15 years in the field, she specializes in trauma therapy, substance use disorders, eating disorders, co-occurring disorders, domestic violence, PTSD, anxiety, and mood disorders. Ms. Welty works with adults (18+), couples, families, and groups. In addition to being a Licensed Professional Counselor, Ms. Welty is also a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She uses CBT, REBT, 12-Step, solution-focused, mindfulness, and psychodynamic therapeutic modalities. There is no "one size fits all" treatment. I believe everyone works towards and achieves recovery differently. I get to know clients and collaboratively develop individualized treatment goals using trauma-informed and person-centered approaches, and introduce other modalities to meet the needs of the client, including the option for telehealth services. Before any other work can occur in counseling, an atmosphere of respect and safety must be developed within the relationship. You are more than your symptoms, more than the problems you face or the struggles you encounter. Everyone needs support sometimes, and my goal is to provide my clients with a safe place for hope and healing.
