Seeking an intentional space for healing and discovery is a meaningful choice. Through curiosity, warmth, and honesty, I work collaboratively to support clients in connecting their history, relationships, environment, to their current challenges and future goals. I believe that all of our stories are contextual, therefore I work towards identifying oppression-based barriers and explore the environmental impact through an anti-oppressive and liberation lens. My focus is to create a space where you can be empowered, express your pain, learn new ways of coping, and continue to grow into your most authentic self. My therapy approach is integrative, client centered, & depth oriented. I have special interest and experience with LGBTQIA+ individuals, trauma survivors, polyamorous/CNM & kink/BDSM relationships, neurodivergent folks, & artists. I enjoy working with a range of concerns: identity development, depression, anxiety, relationships, substance use, & self-harm. I welcome people from all backgrounds and lived experiences. I am interested in co-creating space with you that challenges dominating narratives and structures and actively works to counter oppressive systems (i.e. racism, transphobia, homophobia, classism, & ableism). I can be contacted through my listed number, email, or website.

I will be most successful in treating a client who is having difficulty with emotions--such as anxiety, depression, anger, grief--and who is willing to make a commitment to work on changing thinking patterns, behavioral patterns and emotional patterns that are causing misery and distress. This potentially successful client will not just be talking about problems each session, he or she will be learning, practicing and applying new skills. If my client needs medication, I will arrange a medication evaluation by our nurse practitioner, but mainly we will focus on skills, not pills! I have been a psychiatric nurse since 1971, but became an advanced practice nurse (a nurse-therapist) in 1989. I have broad experience-- working with serious mental illness in the state hospital and working in out-patient clinics with people of all ages and all types of problems. Our clinic is small and comfortable. You will be treated like our guest. Your therapy experience will be unique and you will be pleased with your results.

Feeling like there is just too much to process? I help clients develop healthy self-compassion as they balance responsibilities and relationships with the cumulative stress of unresolved traumas and/or the current economic/political/environmental crises. When we explore patterns in our boundaries, families, and relationships, we can reveal deeper truths and unmet needs, and are empowered to make changes that promote safety and reduce the feeling of being stuck. It is important that you feel heard by a professional who supports you. Third Culture Kids, nomads, fish out of water, and micro-minorities welcome. We will create context. I work collaboratively to address shame and suffering resulting from abuse, neglect, erasure, and power imbalances, including invisible/marginalized identities, moral injury and existential dread. I have worked extensively with individuals and relationship systems whose stories hold trauma. I support many who once thought they were “too weird” for therapy. Relief is important to me. It’s likely you have already spent a lot of energy coping with the mental and/or physical manifestations of your suffering. Allow me to join you so that we can continue and build something sustainable together. You do not deserve to feel out of place in your own life. Call me for a free consultation and let’s do this work together.

Hello! I want to help you get back to living your life as soon as possible. You'll find me to be passionate about providing a safe, confidential, supportive, and collaborative environment for you. My approach is influenced by my values of honesty, responsibility, accountability, compassion, and respect. I practice primarily from a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) perspective meaning I focus closely on the interconnectedness of your thoughts/beliefs/values, feelings, and behaviors to help you work toward your goals. I treat a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and relationship issues. Also, I have worked in a variety of settings in the mental health field. I am currently participating in PSYPACT which allows me the privilege of practicing virtually in 36 states (and growing). Finding the right "fit" in a therapist is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle. Once we meet, if we determine that we are not a fit, I'd be happy to guide you to someone who can and/or provide you with resources that may better help. I look forward to meeting you.

As a person-centered therapist, I believe there is potential to help anyone interested in working with me regardless of their reasons for coming to therapy. That being said, I enjoy working with folks who struggle with anxiety, gender and sexual identities, neurodivergence, self-concept or self-worth, complex and religious trauma, relationship issues, and grief. I am an LGBTQIA+ and relationship-affirming therapist and I'm very passionate about working with people in marginalized groups. I believe that everyone needs a therapist who can listen with compassion and understanding. In our sessions I will try my best to embody the person-centered ideal of being a “fellow traveler” rather than an expert or teacher. I love learning about others' perspectives and enjoy having deep, existential conversations. My intention is to create a safe space for you to share your highs, lows, and everything in between. I am passionate about social justice and identify as a feminist and atheist. I enjoy conversations exploring the impact of systemic oppression, capitalism, and the patriarchy in our daily lives. Together we will seek to find insight into who you are because I believe that this can lead to powerful change.

I started in the field working as a substance abuse counselor intern conducting group therapy and individual therapy in an IOP/PHP setting. I had the experience working with court mandated clients. I have also worked in an inpatient substance abuse setting where I also conducted groups, facilitated lectures on recovery topics and provided individual therapy and case management. Following this position, I found myself in outpatient mental where I gained the most clinical experience working with a diverse population and treating a variety of issues. I have worked with children as young as 10, adolescents and adults up to age 65. My approach when treating all clients is tailored. I tend to be primarily cognitive based in my approach but I will often bring in other approaches from person centered, solutions focused, or REBT. Each of us faces a whole host of challenges in our lives. Whether these are challenges from our past that are still affecting us today or situations that are ongoing. Or maybe we’re having a tough time with life in general, and we’re not sure why that is, where it’s coming from, or even how to begin to process what we’re struggling with. Whatever you may be facing, my goal in counseling is to help provide you with the space to explore whatever you are experiencing or have experienced. I want to create a space where you feel heard, seen, and understood. That way we can begin exploring what you need and want to explore, and it feels safe and helpful to do so.

In my work, I strive to create an accepting, non-judgmental environment where you can feel safe exploring the difficult, and sometimes painful, parts of yourself.
